  1. his response to my PM back "It has nothing whatsoever to do with what my standards are. What is does have to do with RC Standards and the fact that you have violated the UA. http://reefcentral.com/agreement.php 1. POSTING: You agree not to post, transmit or link to any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind, I've used that phrase a few times, but I have the sense not to use it on a family friendly board where young kids and people without that kind of a sense of humor come to learn about reefing. There is such a thing as respect of others. I do agree with one part of what you said......if you can't log on you will know why. Steve Reef Central retains ownership of this message and all associated contents, which are to remain confidential. This message is intended only for the designated recipient(s). "Wow, you are so very powerful and witty it seems. I guess an honest apologize does not work for people that flex their internet mucsles... I really think that there is a much more mature way to deal with this, but I guess you lack that in human relation skills. Like I said I apologize for it...but that is a far as I am going to go, because again you and I know that I have no explantion and that is very pompus for you to try and force me to explain myself, when you know I can not do so. I will not beg to stay on your board (I would like to stay on here) but my life is probably the only thing I would beg for or a large sum of money . Again... I did not mean for what I said to offend anyone. That is my apology, take it or leave it. _Brandon"
  2. I wrote... "it better suck me and F--k me for that much money" His Pm went like this... "it better suck me and F--k me for that much money" is so far out line I am not going to comment any further then that. You better give me a good explaaination for saying this if you want to be considered able to stay active on RC. I personaly think it should have been...something like this "This is not allowed, please refrain from doing this again or else it will mean termination of your account on RC" call me crazy...
  3. I may be getting kicked of RC, LOL. I posted something that was over the line I guess, but anyone who know's me would deem it funny and harmless, but BIG BAD Steve, sent me some asking me to explain myself and my comment, or else I would be a goner... here is my response... "I guess from your standards it is not ok on this site. As for a good explination, that I do not have...it is me and who I am, I am very respected in the work I do on a daily basis, so you can try and pin this on charcter, but that will do nothing. I apologize if I offended you or anyone else, it was my way of showing the price of something was insane and it got my point across. I have been a fairly active member of this board and contribute to alot of posts and I am helpful and I rarely instigate anything on this board at all. But it is obsurd for you to ask me if I have reasonable explaination for saying something like this, as you know I do not, other then the simple fact that I did it. I will watch my tounge, but if you must ban me, then so be it...But I hope you do not rule your household or your life with the way that you are handling this...A simple warning is more fair, but if you would like to wield you power of being a mod, by demanding I explain myself, knowing that I can not give you the explaination you are looking for, just to ban me; then I guess that false sense of power will let you down with me on this one. I will not beg you to let me stay, but I have apologized for what I said and that is all I can really give you. I guess the ball is in your court. If I can not log in anymore I guess I will have my answer. _Brandon" Just the PM he wrote me was so pompus... I can see why people now do not like that place.
  4. Ok, thanks guys...thats what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure.
  5. Which is better and why? I am looking at maybe selling my HQI DE 250watt halide for a 400Watt SE electronic ballast. MY understanding is that HQI is better, uses less electricity and easier on the bulb when starting, thus leading to longer bulb life. Would it even be worth going up to the 400w, I have no chiller, but an open top hood and will have fans. I want to keep SPS mainly, and it is my only light so I want photoperiod to be 12 hours. Help me out here.
  6. I am sorry if I missed it, but how big is your tank?
  7. Hey with this overflow box how much water will drain into your sump in the even of a power outage? also did you make it yourself?
  8. one drug to counter the effort of another, thats funny.
  9. And chuging from a skimmer collection up!
  10. Ok update...I have not tested water, but my skimmer has gone nuts!!!!! I mean just crazy. I will test tomorrow.
  11. Yeah I am feeling you on that. Seems you have had more luck then me.... My Friend is buying mine, he might want a little more, so if he does I will direct him your way.
  12. Really? Ok thanks, I guess I will just keep going that route.
  13. Well welcome, even if you live in Ohio. there may be a beating to get in you in the club, but other then that no big deal.
  14. I am thinking about Ozone, I am thinking I can get everything I need for under two hundred bucks...I would like to know anyone's expeirnce on it... I hate asking RC.
  15. I have had my tank up for about 3 years... I am housing LPS, SPS and some shrooms in a 12 gal nano under 30 watts of lighting and all is doing very well...Rich (h20cooled) and Ringwurm have seen my tank and they can tell you everything is healthly. There is not much to worry about if you said I only have to babysit it for a week or two. Let me know.
  16. Welcome to the board and soon to Oregon. I will help you out w/babysitting!!!! PM me if you are interested.
  17. some of the products are for growth. but there are two that are geared towards getting rid of P04. The Bio-digest and Bio-tim I believe.
  18. That is understandable. You might try what Rich suggested. He was telling me about it and might be worth a try. it will only be around 50 bucks to try it. MIght be worth the money insted of all your time to tear the rock out and "cook" it.
  19. Stay away from scrubbing, try the horrible and tedius process of picking it off by hand...You should listen to the reefcast Melev (Marc) talks about this... If you pick it off make sure you have a cup of RO/DI water next to you so you rinse your fingers before you put them back in the tank. The reason for not scrubbing, is that it will not get the "roots" and may spread more spores through out the tank...So I would try pulling it off, just slowly working at it.
  20. The sugar is suppose to act like zeo's bacteria or prodibio or vodka. The sugar will create good bacteria to eat the bad bacteria. I am hoping the sugar will speed up the process of the cycle creating the good bacteria faster, thus speeding up the cycling process. I will not continue to dose it as I feel there are to many repercutions from it...In a thread I read on RC a guy from switserland is a some bio guy and says that he could see it helping the cycling process...I read this after I decided to it, so it makes feel a little bit better.
  21. Ok, so I just set up my tank about two weeks ago. However the rock and sand was being cycled in some tubs before I set the tank up, that was about 2 weeks. I test my levels about a week ago... PH-8.0 Nitrate-30+ Nitrate-30+ Alk-4 Nh3-.5 Nh3&Nh3/4+.5 Today I tested a few of them again Nitrate-30+ Nitrate-30+ Nh3-.05 Nh3&Nh3/4+.05 Now to my "experiment" I am adding sugar to the tank to see if anything changes during the cycle. I just added 2 tps to 2L of RO/DI water and added it to the tank. So we shall see what happens...Comments are welcome.
