  1. Update- My buddy finished the steel stand and it turned out really nice. So nice I decided to keep it exposed for all to see. I ended up getting a little over 200 lbs of base rock from reefer rocks to go along with my existing 150 lb of live rock. I was able to drill a few of the rocks to make some arch ways and overhangs. Arch The final placement was fairly close to my original design. As you can see below my canopy is not finished yet so I'm having to temporarily use my old one to provide some much needed light. Most of my coral is still out in the frag tank and will be moved later this week. This is the side view from my desk. I have a pretty good view while I'm checking the scanning the AH. I just installed a tunze wavebox last night. That thing is way cool. I'll have to take a few videos of my torch waving back and forth. Greg
  2. It would be nice if name tags were used at the monthly meetings. I've been to a few meetings but often find it hard to remember people's handles let alone their real name. It would also make things easier and less intimidating for new members who don't know anyone. Greg
  3. The aqualifter works fine on the U-tube. It just keeps you from having to suck saltwater in your mouth. Unless you like that sort of thing.
  4. Go to one of the LFS and pick up an aqualifter pump. Its worth its weight in gold if you have an external overflow box. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=OE1137 The pump is designed to suck air/water from one side and pump it out the other hose. Attach a few feet of airline tubing to each side of the pump and put the "sucking" tube in the U-tube. Just make sure the end of the airline tubing is at the top of the u-tube. Place the output airline tubing over your tank as it will start to spit out water once the siphon starts. Turn on the pump and it will suck out the air in the u-tube. After a little practice you can change out u-tubes on the fly in about 20-30 seconds. You will need to make sure that both sides of the overflow have water. Greg
  5. Do any of the LFS carry this? Sure Grip 100 Magnetic Powerhead Holder up to 3/4" http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=AF-SG100&Category_Code= Greg

  7. Do you have the larger reflectors in stock? Like this: http://www.reefexotics.com/lumenarc.htm The hood dimensions are 19.5” x 19.5” x 8.5” tall. Greg
  8. SoCalCreations built a new tank (70 x 36 x 30) for me and it is finally here! I borrowed my friends truck to pick it up from the freight yard and the forklift driver hit his truck with the pallet! One accident report later we made it back home with a few guys to muscle it out of the truck. It was neatly packed away in a crate with several layers of foam to protect it. My daughter and wife checking it out. Once we removed the wood it wasn't too heavy. It took 4 guys to waddle it into the house. I'm still waiting on the steel stand but it shouldn't be too much longer. Greg
  9. So why did everyone step down or resign? greg
  10. I have a clam that is on his way out. :( I've moved him to my frag tank to give him some TLC but nothing has helped. This morning he had a hole ripped in his mantle just above the outlet siphon. He is gaping and his main mantle has receeded way past the edge of his shell. So. What is the best way to put a clam down? I don't want him to die and have the pollution take others with him. I feel bad for him. :( All of my other clams are doing great by the way. Greg

  16. The dart will not be used as a main source of tank flow but the returns will be attached to two sea swirls. I was going to go with a closed loop or two but I've decided to get a tunze wavebox and a few tunze streams. Thanks for all the input.
