  1. man, i have wanted a cheap one for a live webcast of the tank... being unemployed sucks :(
  2. There are a lot of us on the site that could help you put that together. and i really think you could get it for under $1k easy
  3. Who ever said a BB tank couldn't look good. wow I was on RC and didn't see a list of coral. can you post a snapshot of the bigger colonies?
  4. I have always stuck with Durso's. I have done both the J shaped ones and the single vertical and never had a problem. if you want silent flow into the sump just make sure the drain line drains under the surface of the water.
  5. Yes there are 2 versions. Depending on what you use you can see the difference so with cost being so low nowadays i recommend getting the newer stuff.
  6. I could take him but have no $$ so sorry. good luck.
  7. Dimensions 20 long 10 3/4 wide 12 1/2 tall that is about an 1/8th generous all around
  8. it is pretty close. I can get exact if you need it.
  9. Hi all, I have a 10g acrylic nano for sale. it is hand made in decent condition. the seams aren't pretty but it is functional and doesn't leak. the top rim has one small crack. I don't need it but i do need money. this thing cost me $$ to have it made so i am asking $30 OBO willing to listen to reasonable offers
  10. plus it does not dissolve very fast or well.
  11. I am very unemployed right now or i would really want to grab him. boo hoo. good lookin kid, would look great in my place :(
  12. i would just rub my hand slowly across it and clear it off. clean it off your hand when it builds up.
  13. The only way in hell i would ever allow a sales tax and a big reason it has not passed, is that we would REQUIRE that they rescind the income or property tax (income preferably). they have not budged on that and neither will I. I have no problem with it but i am not paying taxes out of every orifice.
  14. It took a lot of bravery to start this thread i have to agree with most regarding the wasteful spending of the state. it is a tragedy. I have an uncle that has worked in the same line of business with the developmentaly disabled for his whole career so i can understand the need and attachment. your work is great and so necessary. you just have the bad luck to be stuck under an inept state government (for years!). I do hope you keep your funding but i cant vote a payraise for a corrupt government (kinda funny to see them call all these CEO's and execs corrupt when they ask for a raise and then they go and do the same thing themselves IN A RECESSION). oh well, cheers
  15. I used to work with a lady that had lost touch with her family members. when se learned that her brother, a vietnam vet was in the same situation, homless and with PTSD, she sent him money and brought him into her home. it was amazing to hear as he was able to get back on his feet. I am sorry to hear what has happened. may he rest in peace. What would be nice is if each soldier had a support list of people to call if they have problem when they get back. then these guys and gals would know they can call people for support.
  16. yes but it can have other negative side effects too. why wait weeks for what you can burn off today? fire is great, it works on algae, mojano and aptasia anenomes, flatworms, even problem corals. it is readily available and not expensive at all. who could possibly need anything else
  17. Rick nailed it here. you need to make sure your drain can handle the flow before you ramp it up. what size drain bulkhead do you have, and does it have a strainer or durso? are you using a HOB overflow?
  18. netgear should be fine. sounds good. make sure you get yourself secure.
  19. Ok, hold the phone... are you sure it is hair algae? Hair algae is usually long and slimy and is not usually like astro turf. it sounds like you have something much worse like bryeropsis. feel the algae and let us know how it feels. a picture would be good too. if it is hair algae then the step above are a good move. if it is bryeropsis then you will need to take a much more aggressive stance since i have never found a critter that eats it with enough speed to get rid of it. to kill it now i recommend the following. -Buy a blow torch -pull your live rock out and scrub as much off as you can under freshwater -let it dry for about 5 minutes -take it outside or in the garage -put on some leather work gloves -light the blow torch -burn every living thing on the surface of the rock till it is black and the surface is hot -drop the rock in a bucket of cool saltwater and let it cool down for 5 min -scrub the surface once more to clean the ash off, if you find any more non-burned algae on it then burn again -place the rock back in your tank this will cause a mini cycle but i have found it to be very effective at killing EVERYTHING you don't want. Cheers
  20. There are some really cool looking shrimp out there. those were cool
