  1. so I went and looked at my hammer coral today, and it appears to be melting. the only thing that has changed is thismorning I came down and found the water temp up to 85deg(scary), so I unpluddeg the heater, killed the lights, and let the temp drop back down to just under 80deg. I turned the lights on and everything looked a little pissed off, which I figured was due to the heat. I come back an hour later and see bits of my hammer falling off. so do any of you guys think the heat was what did in my hammer? also, should I remove it, or see if it will heal itself? I"m kinda pissed cause my clown just started hosting it as well.
  2. dang, I really can't see the creature in the image that well. Any chance of a closer shot?
  3. shoot me an E-mail w/ some big pics at rmhuntley@comcast.net

  6. I actually knew that just took the plasma, but that too SO much longer to type. and you're right, I"ve never done it before. I wold love to see your prop setup when you're finished. I'm actually cleaning out my garage as we speak so I can set up a small prop system ( a couple ot 10g tanks and a 20H) but I would like to see a large prop system in action

  8. now see, this is the kind of info that us Zoo lovers need to hear!!! I"ve never been in to C&S, just cause its a really long drive, but soemtime when I'm down a little closer, I'll have to make the drive an dcheck you guys out. I will say that all the LFS up here get some really impressive zoas in, the most impressive of the lot coming out of the solomons, from what Travis has told me.
  9. Looks great!! you take wonderfull pictures as well
  10. I've got a secondary chamber to a calcium reactor laying around and I got the bright(maybe) idea to try and turn it into a phosphate reactor. As per the drawing below(I am not an artist, so keep that in mind) it has a pressure fitting in the top for 1/4 tubing that I would replace w. a barbed fitting for 1/2" ID tubing. there is also a 1/4" pressure fitting on the bottom side as per drawing, will this work for water entering the chamber or should I run a rigid tube from up top and down through the dispersion plate? I plan on using 1/2" ID tubing all round and powering the whole setup w/ a MJ400. please let me know anything that you see wrong(hell, or even that I'm doing right)
  11. Looks good. I can't wait to see pics w/ livestock
  12. Disclaimer: I love all of our local fish stores and support them every chance I get(more than is good for me, actually). I thought I would share some of my knowlege of online shops that carry outstanding Zoanthids, which are my passion as well as that of a few others in the club. Please do not flame me for shopping online, as seems to happen every time someone brings up not buying something locally. www.coralfanatics.com this is a WONDERFUL place to buy zoos from, or any coral really. I've always been super impressed with their service, selection, and quality. Deidre is alwyas quick to help, and if you call her asking about a peice thats sold, they usually have a couple like it. free 2nd day shipping on orders over $100, free overnight on orders over $200 www.extremecorals.com Also a good place to get Zoos. they get soem absolutely amazong colonys in and the prices are pretty good. www.aquadesignz.com You never really know what you're gonna find when you browse their selection, but you can rest assured, it wil most likely be amazing. Shipping prices are reasonable www.fragglereef.com Simple astounding.... I"ve not ordered from them, but check these guys out. www.ultimatefrags.com Just browsed so far, but WOW. www.sharkysreef.com Never purchased from Sharky, but he has lot of beautiful Zoas, both in colonys and per polyp frags. www.jimmysreef.com www.elitereefs.com THese uys have some decent zoas at standard prices, but every once in a while, they'll suprise you with something simply outstanding at rock bottom prices. www.purecaptive - closed for the summer. I've done business with Bryan a few times, and have yet to be disapointed. Extremely knowlegable and easy to work with. Shipping methods are outstanding. Good prices as well. Everything that I"ve said here is either first-hand experience or simple observation. these are not paid advertisements(the checks are in the mail, right guys?)
  13. I completely forgot abot going through the various and assorted SW forumsDOH! I do seem to spend an absurd amount of time reading and drooling over thigns that I will never be able to afford and if I could, have the common sense to know that I will kill anyway, so why bother
  14. So, "Ive always wondered, what do people (besides me) do when they're up in the wee hours of the morning. I usually read or play Xbox or something like that. I"ve also been known to re-aquascape my tank at 3am. Lets hear it crew
  15. I am.... the night is yet young.

  22. Here is a picture of the hole that was left in the ceiling.
  23. So, today I was helping Keith take care of some mold in his attic. Everything was going swimmingly, when all of a sudden we here this cracking sound and I end up falling through the ceiling and dangling by one arm that I managed to lodge in a truss. Picture this. I"m dangling by an arm w/ my feet a good 4 feet off the ground(thankfully there was a bed under me to land on when I finally get down. there's sheetrock fragments and insulation scattered over a 20' radius. Keith is looking down at me and trying to decide whether to FOLLOW me down that [language filter] rabbit hole or come down the sane way)I would have jumped if I were him), and Angie runs in the room and looks all aghast with a face like "dear christ.....what the hell did you boys do to my ceiling" So, instead of cleaning mold like we hand intended(and made 2 trips to the hardwarestore for already) we ended up spending the entire day patching a 4x8 foot hole in the ceiling, which entailed running to Lowes once and then to the hardware store YET AGAIN for sheetrock, mud, and seam tape Good times were had by all, although I scraped the hell out of my arm in the fall... so if anybody needs any home improvements done, I highyl recommend Keith and I.. we are both experienced home renovation specialists. Pictures to follow
