  1. Nice pictures. Looks like you're getting the new camera down. The kids had a great time. Maddi (our 7 year old) lectured us for quite a while on how important it was & is to keep the beach clean. Feels good to have kids that care about others & the environment.:p Cuda
  2. Welcome to the site gopens. (sorry I am a few days late in welcoming you.) As you have seen we are always willing to help any way we can. I hadn't seen it mentioned but on Mondays (usually) at 8:00 there is an open chat that members log into. That might be a good way for you to ask more questions & get realtime answers. I have only been is this hobby a short time but the chat sessions in the beginning were very helpful. Do you have any pictures of your tank & stand? Also some dimensions of your stand may be helpful in helping you design/buy the bet sump for your application. Keep the questions coming (clap) Cuda
  3. I have a pdf file of the air pump design & instructions on how to buid the one that is referenced above. I did not use it because I found an inexspensive electric top off system but I could email you the one that uses the air pump. Let me know, Cuda
  4. Hello All Again, Today we went out & got burnt pretty good. Not going to stop us from going diving tomorrow. We found a killer beach today that was an absolute nightmare to get to but that made the reaf all the more cool as not a lot of people can access it because of the physical requirements to get there. I shot 2 rolls of film today between the 2 sites. We saw a parrot fish today that I swear was at least 24" long. I even got a picture of it. Hopefully it will turn out as there were some other fish in the photo to validate its size. It was incredible. We also saw a turtle while out snorkeling. I am going to try to burn all the photo's to a cd when we get back & I'll bring my laptop to the BBQ & hook it up to the projector if anyone wants to see some photo's. Sorry for the rambling. I think it is time to crash for the evening, the commander is already out. Nite all, Cuda
  5. Hello All, Well the time has finally come & after a day of traveling from hell we are here. I am sitting in a lounge chair 30ft from the ocean with the sending you all a picture. (kind of sick huh(nutty) ). Anyway we checked out a killer beach today with some incredible snorkeling. I have an underwater camera that I will upload photo's as soon as they are available. We are diving on Sunday & really looking forward to it.(clap) Anyway I woke up at 4:30 in the morning because of the time change & took a photo at sunrise. I photobucketed it but it is to large. I'll reformat the size a little later & send it on. Take care & talk to you all soon. Cuda
  6. You need a couple of kids & 2 dogs that wake up every morning between 6:00-6:30. Do that for a week or 2 and I bet you might be able to sleep at night. Puppy wakes up around six, wakes up son, son wakes up daughter, daughter wakes up other dog, guess who gets woken up next? DOH! Cuda
  7. Small price to pay for an extended vacation. Just kidding Jay. Cuda

  10. Welcome aboard. Feel free to ask lots of questions. I did and my tank looks awesome for it. How about a pic of the tank? Cuda
  11. Great looking tank Darren. Thanks for sharing. Cuda
  12. Thanks for sharing the pics. The wife & I are heading to Kaua'i on Wednesday and we are going to be spending a lot of time in the water. My father in law has a nice underwater camera that we may take to shoot some pics on our dives. We'll share when we return. Cuda
  13. The one I just got from fantaseas did the same thing you are referring to. About 2-3 days of getting comfortable & then he went to town. The tank has never looked better. Cuda
  14. Target has some really nice flat totes. My wife bought some for under our bed. Cuda
  15. Maybe in a third world country. Cuda
  16. As long as the receptacles or switches you are using have a clamp on the sides stranded wire will work. Usually these are referred to as spec grade devices not the inexpensive residential grade devices. There aren't any plugs or switches on the market that I am aware of that you can stab stranded wire into the back of. Do not try to wrap stranded wire around the screw on the side of the device. the strands will not compress correctly & will eventually cause a loose connection which is the worst thing you can have on a device. A loose connection will cause heat, which can turn to burnt wire insulation or fire. Cuda
  17. Hello Rudy & Welcome. Where abouts do you live? Knowing your location may help us to put you in contact with more people in your area that may be able to help you out as you are setting up your tank. Cuda
  18. Hello All, As some of you may know I am a licensed electrician. Being on the board of directors now I am going to try to be more of a resource to the club members. There always seems to be various questions reagarding electrical & I am hoping this thread can be used as a reference for anyone that sees the need. If you have any questions regarding circuits, loads, application, installation, feel free to fire your questions or comments off & I'll try to respond as quickly as possible. Cuda
  19. Hey Jay, I like the electrical work... Cuda
  20. Keith, Radiant ceiling heat is also referred to as ceiling cable heat. There are cables installed on the ceiling in a similar pattern to a heating element on a stove. Then a layer of either plaster or a thin layer of sheetrock is installed over the cables. The cables heat the items in the room & in turn the room warms up. It is the second most inneficient form of heat only better than baseboards. I know because I used to have ceiling heat in my house until I upgraded to a furnace & heat pump. Andy, why do you think that it would cost you $20k to upgrade. Is your house a two story? Cuda
  21. Here is the shot of the carpet leather I got. It is doing awesome. About 6-7" across. Cuda
