wobble
Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm considering getting a couple of these to randomize the flow a little on the maxijets in my 29g. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=11363
tidalsculpin
They are ok. Clean often. They do spread flow with less electricity. Soak in vinegar once a month.
tigerv503
I had a couple of these rotating water deflectors for my tank and it sucks!!! so i took it out, Not recommended!! If you have to buy it search www.ebay.com its cheaper.
CA2OR
I would just get a korelia, even though it wont provide alternating flow. I have heard nothing but bad about these deflectors, mostly about clogging and having to clean ALL the time
coralreefaquarist
i havent cleaned mine in 3 months and she still going. i have it on a maxijet 1200. i keep it close to the top to aggetate the surface without making a mess. and it does a good job of just that. wobble
Hmmm. Maybe I'll pass then. I don't want any added maintenance. I actually had a koralia 3 in there until I installed the sump today. It was just a tad too much flow in one direction. I just put a mj1200 in one side with the return from my sump on the other. I'm still not happy with the flow. CA2OR
they do have those flow splitters that will take flow and dump in 2 different directions. Or a wave maker thingy...
tidalsculpin
Buy an mj mod. Or make it yourself. Search on this site. impur made one and put pics in the diy section. Pretty easy and the same price as a hydor rotator really.
wobble
I have a couple sure flow 1600 mods, but they flow was INSANE in there! It created a sand storm even on the mj900. I love the flow on them though. Very wide flow, not such a concentrated pattern like the typical maxijets.
wobble
What about a tunze 6025 for my 29g? Does anyone know what the flow pattern is like on them?

Nyles
I have a bunch of these I dont use anymore, I cleaned them about once every 6 months and they worked just fine. They lose about 25% of water flow but thats a small sacrifice to get water going everywhere, out of the ones I ran a couple years I only had one out of 8 fail, so not bad at all. I now use mj1200 on maxi mod/sure flow instead for flow reasons.
stylaster
ive been using the rotating hydors for 2 years now. Out of the 4 i have only 1 failed. The rest are still going strong, using maxijet 1200 and 800's
undrtkr_00
I used one for several months, but eventually replaced that PH with a Koralia. My favorite part of using the FLO was that snails would climb up there and ride around in circles for hours at a time. (laugh) Sometimes, though, my bigger turbos would get their shell jammed between the rotator and the powerhead body, which caused the rotation to stop, and caused the driver teeth to get a bit stripped out. jason7504
could a hydor flow fit on the solana return?
