Beckie
My Duncans have been closed for 2weeks. Tonight I watched as 1 secreted some string brown stuff. Do they use thier mouth for both? They haven't been eating because they've been closed.
steelhead77
I saw the same thing on mine the other day Beckie. I was told that single polyp corals, like Duncans, are much like anemones and they do poop. Whodathunkit?
snowpunk
Yep, it's possible. My lobo's do it also. It is actually neat to watch since their are maybe 10 mouths on that. It pulses and lets it out of each mouth at the same time. I have one chalice that has done it once also. More like what your saying with that one. Brown glob slowly comes out. stylaster
It could also be expelling excess zooanthalae. If you have it under bright light, corals tend to do that until they adjust.

They have been closed before and after light replacement, I wonder how long they will last if no eating. Only two heads.
