Been following that tank for a while. It even has several live web-cams you can view the tank with (I think you can even actually operate one).

My guess is cost has easily gone over $50,000 (and that includes all the construction they had to do). When its all said and done (with corals and fish) it will come up to $70,000 easily.

Yeah... I'd say $50k is waaay low. The guy that put together my 300 gallon spent around $20k (or at least so he said when he sold me the house).

This is easily in the 650K+ range with livestock. The tank alone had to be over 100K. I wouldn't even want to know how much the container+crane+positioning the tank inside the building ran him. That's crazy.

From what I read, he is a web page design. He is building this tank for this company, the CEO of that company is in the picture too.
