andy
What design? I'm using a DIY copied from here (midway down the page), but it's too large... I have to blow air into it to get it started. I think I might just go back to my old version (http://reef.eldersign.org/images/venturi.gif), but I'd like to hear what you're using. Sorry for the threadjacking, Jordan

chewie
It's basically just like the one JCTewks posted in your first link. Real similar to the ER/ASM venturi.
uhuru
this was my ATB shortly before I took it down...: this was when I had full bioload: all using only 18w and more silent than a bubble king! it's now owned by Spectra The new ones come with an eheim 1260 on the small and a laguna pump on the medium and up
andy
The ATB is a beast, but too spendy for me. If I can't make it out of duct tape and old lawnmower parts, it's a no-go

That's some chunky NAWG! That's with the Ehiem 1250 correct?
SamatSLS
Uhuru, Don't get me wrong, that ATB is awesome, I have the same model, but something tells me the other piece of acrylic in the top photo is a major contributing factor to that performance... My ATB was good at first, but nothing like that until I started running Zeovit.. Now that I am, I can get skimmate like that too, but [language filter], it stinks! I don't let it go past 2 days.... uhuru
Very true! I think carbon dosing and skimmers are so complementary to one another since carbon feeds bacteria, bacteria consume N and P, and skimmers remove bacteria full of N and P.
