Swampy
Are all gobies sucidial? We had our first one jump out of the tank Tuesday. I made a temporary lid for the tank Wednesday and some how during feeding the fish last night the one we got to replace it decided to jump out unobserved. Current plan is no more gobies until the permanent lid arrives. For sand sifting is it better to have a goby or something else this is less jumpy? Higher Thinking
While anything is possible, back to back jumpers might be an inclination that the fish don't feel safe. Ideally, they should dart into a burrow for cover rather than going airborne. But gobies are indeed jumpers. What size tank? What tank mates? Get a goby that pairs with shrimp, it'll be more inclined to stay lower in the tank with the shrimp. At least that's what I've heard and that is my personal experience with a pair for the last 5 months. MrsBret
Aww poor gobie :( Are other fish chasing them out?
albertareef
I would also worry that they are getting startled by an agreesive tank mate. While a top would certainly help, it may just be covering up a bigger issue as, ideally, they wouldn't feel the need to launch. Can't recall your stocking list so not sure if there are any likely culprits. If you happen to have a six line, however, I would suspect them first just from experience. Swampy
We should had a lid on the tank to prevent this. Poor fish had to suffer with our mistake.

Swampy
This first one was probably scared by a rock moving in the night. It was not as stable as it should of been. The aquscape was changed wed to fix the before the other was added.
MrsBret
Some tangs are bullies, I wonder if yours is?
NoDoze
Perhaps not enough hiding space, or deep enough sand bed? Were the gobbies acting normal and/or looked relaxed? Typically, they're always looking for food, not at other fish in fear.
