Bevo5
Just ordered one of these 7inch Fire tablets for $33....to use as my apex display in the cabinet. That's pretty insanely cheap. All you have to do is plug it in and stick it to the side of your cabinet and load up the apex app....easy easy full color touch display, so much better than what they give you with the unit.
badxgillen
Very cool, I imagine you could download a few other handy reef related apps and reference tables...And maybe a good read just for fun.
spectra
Picked one up last year and I think they are still on sale even today.
LadySaber
do you know if all fires can use the app? Or just certain ones?
Arsonmfg
No app necessary, since fusion is web based you can just use a browser... The Dolphin browser works good since it has a fullscreen option. My display crapped out a while ago so I put a Galaxy tablet into my stand where the Apex display used to be. Bevo5
Yup - to clarify - apparently the app doesn't work but once you download the Dolphin browser you can go full screen with the Fusion web site. There's also a way to stop the sleep mode so it never turns off. I probably wont do that since I have kids that would just love to push buttons on it, but pretty nice option if you have a secure place.
iairj84
Awesome hack getting it to work with the Apex web display. I will say that the cheapy fire tablets while great for this purpose are beyond bad when it comes to getting any moisture on/near them... Don't ask me how I know
shaywood
I did the same thing with a 2015 version. Also was able to remove Amazon version if Android with CM 12. This just made the interface cleaner but took a lot of work. Mounted the unit like others using Velcro v
