merritt180
That rules out ehiem look into cobalt heaters from BRS
Exodus
I have always liked Aqueon brand heaters and they make some tiny ones.
spectra
Yep picked up a Ehiem Jager just to find out it would not fit in the sump....... I have another smaller one that I use for salt mixs in the garage so might just swap them out.
BoringDave
Since I don't own and probably won't ever own an apex, I'm thinking of a Cobalt heater/controller.
spectra
So anyone use the Finnex ones? Have heard mixed reviews on them. I could run a Cobalt but the 200 watt model is the one I hear all the horror stories about......
BoringDave
Thanks for the heads up about the Cobalt heater, I was just about to buy one. I reworded my search to find quite a few problems. I can't believe how many different results you get just by moving some words around when searching google or bing.
Bicyclebill
I'm running a cobalt right now. I ran a Won Bros titanium for 8+ years with no issues, but decided to replace it just because. I bought a Johnson controls temp controller just recently to be double safe. My heater is barely large enough for my tank, so it would have a hard time cooking it
spectra
Thanks for the heads up about the Cobalt heater, I was just about to buy one. I reworded my search to find quite a few problems. I can't believe how many different results you get just by moving some words around when searching google or bing. Thing is it is the 200 watt one that always has the issues. I did not read much on the smaller ones having issues. I am running a neotherm in my 20 now.
BoringDave
I have close to 100 gallons to heat so I was going to get two of the 200w models. After more research I see that they are the newest model they have and seem to be the only one that's having the cracking/blowing up problem. spectra
I have a old ViaAqua 300 that I use in the mixing bucket in the garage. Might just use it as it has never skipped a beat......plus it will fit in the stupid sump I have.
