defigart
I got a RPS-1000 from a forum member. I have a Rio 1400 that pushes 375GPH. To much? Not enough? Or just right?
defigart
I took a picture of the skimmer, photoshoped some numbers into it. Can someone tell me what the four numbered things are for. Here is what I guessed: 1.)From primary pump? 2.)Waste Output 3.)??? 4.)Air from an airpump?
Chief
1. Water inlet - from pump or from tank drain to sump 2. Waste outlet 3. Water outlet - back to sump 4. Air intake for needlewheel pump. Should not need to force air in. It should draw it in on its own. Jay
defigart
Jay, et al, Would it hurt to force air into my Skimmer?
dsoz
Jay, et al, Would it hurt to force air into my Skimmer? I don't think so, but they are designed to make bubbles from the venturi. You may get too many bubbles if you use an air pump. That can lead to micro-bubbles in the tank. :( I am not a skimmer expert however. So I could be wrong. dsoz
defigart
I am hoping for more bubbles in the skimmer. I will try it and report back.
civicsit
You could try the mesh impeller mod to create finer bubbles.
reef-fisher
i had thought of the mesh mod on my rps 1000 and was told that the pump would not perform as well with the mesh because it wasnt strong enough. the same guy told me to add an air pump to the venturi, wich seems to be working much better. not familiar with rio pumps, but it should be okay. defigart
reef-fisher, Thanks I found the Rio 1400 to strong, but the air pump is working great. This is why I love this group.
