Droc88 Posted November 25, 2014 Share Posted November 25, 2014 I'm tired of using MH i tried LEDS and I went back to MH I'm thinking about getting some t5's so my question is my tank is a 125 6 feet long I was banking on ordering a 72 inch t5 fixture but after reading the bulbs are only 50 some inches long and I'm afraid it won't cover the ends of my tank is there a better option or will that work any input would be awesome thank you Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You could definitely use two quad units. That would give you 4 bulbs on each of the outside 2 foot sections and 8 bulbs in the middle two feet. Which LEDs did you try? It was nice to have some shady spots for corals that liked less PAR such as chalices and acanthophyllia. Are you planning on doing a mixed reef? What type of fixture are you looking into buying? Higher Thinking Posted November 25, 2014 Share Posted November 25, 2014 Yeah, you're not going to want to use that much light with freshwater. In order to utilize high light, which for planted tanks is around 50 par on the substrate, you'll need to inject co2 or else you'll be battling algae relentlessly.
