Overflow redesign

I want to change the overflow on a tank. It currently has a small corner overflow and I would like to have a larger one. I can remove the corner overflow and block the hole, but then what are my options?

Do I have to route out comb slot in the back wall and add a long box? What would you recommend?

Do you have a router? You could just increase the size of the exsisting drain.

Either way I wouldn't patch it I would plug it if you do a new hole, just a bulkhead closed on the back. You never know when plans change, or you need an easy eaer change valve or whatnot.

I had a 65g that I put an internal overflow box in by drilling the back and running the duroso externally.
