peligro
A ? For everyone.....what dictates the placement of your LR, or how you aquascape your tank..... The info for those with nanos and bigger tanks would help. Thanks guys HTC EVO
Derbird
I try to have as much water flowing through the rockwork as possible. Beyond that its comes down to what you like.
CuttleFishandCoral
I like a lot of caves and ledges...I try and start with medium rock on the bottom, large in the middle, small on top. I also am a fan of islands. I try and use the "less is more" approach or a minimalistic approach, more places for corals. But it really comes down to what you personally like. kriz2fer
Always use less rock then the norm. People who stack a rock wall never leave room for the corals to grow. I wish I could remove more rock from my tank.
Smann
Try not to stack like the "fruit stand" look, start with some individual islands and then bridge them or leave them, leave room between the rock and the back wall so fish can swim around. I know it may be a challenge with narrower tanks but it's cool to be able to look from the sides and see what's going on behind some of the rock
Garrett
I do two islands in both my builds no reason beyond looks and to split corals depending on growth. This time i tried to allow much more waterflow beind the rock to get rid of dead spots
Gill
I always approach it from what I think is best for the fish. I guess I carried that over from freshwater. I also try to always have a little pile of rubble for the pods to take refuge in.
PowderBlue
I know one thing, I'm never happy with my aquascape... An I the only one lol? If you want to see one done well Travis' new red sea tank has a killer aquascape!

peligro
Yeah that's my problem as well I'm never happy. And I like caves and ledges. I moved some if my rock work around to find detrius in between the rock work. I think this happened because I used small pieces to try and fill spaces, because I was told the more LR the better. So I added a lot of smaller pieces just created issues that I didn't see. So I'm thinking I'm going to take them out and move some stuff around so I limit dead spots HTC EVO

Garrett
personally im not a fan of the rock work in travis' new tank looks like a pile. but its all in personal opinon and he did allow for no dead spots and alot of water movement so better to him, i do similiar 2 island. im more happy with this rock work then my last tank even though its basically the same thing just better rock stacked neater its all opionion based
Toby Flenderson
I like the island but I really like a deep dimension tank with the "trench" design. It gives that broken up island look with out being too spare, also it's a common feature found in nature reefs.
