Alterego
I need my carb either cleaned or rebuilt. anyone know how to do it? I have a Shadow VLX 600. I have fuel coming out of the line that goes to the bottom of the carb to the ground. I think the floats are sticking. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination. Will trade frags or $$$$$
Blue Z Reef
It's really not to bad to clean carbs out, just have to get them off the bike which is a bit tricky but not impossible. Sounds like the floats are sticky by that description. I haven't done it in a few years so i'll pass, but Pro Calibur could do it pretty reasonable usually. Alterego
Still looking for someone to help me out. I am no mechanic and probably don't have all the tools I would need any way.
C0lin
Google, my friend. When I got my BMW, the most I had ever done to a car was changing the spark plugs. But with a little research, I figured things out quite quickly. I've found so many good videos on Youtube, teaching the proper way to do things. MVPaquatics
First take the things off and clean them as much as you can. Reinstall and see if it loosened them up. If not buy a rebuild kit and a manual for the bike. Carbs are easy and if you mess up, it CAN be fixed. Just take lots of pics to help you know where everything was. If you dont have the tools, you should get them...having a bike is a lot of maintenance and costly to have done. I would rather buy the tools and learn than spend money to have someone else to thhe same. My can do most the things on my ninja with. 10 and 12 mm socket and some screw drivers.
