Burningbaal
I got a 10g nano that was really just an algae farm with some softies and a goby/pistol pair about 9 months ago. my tank wasn't anything special at the time, so I just moved everything over. this little rock had what looked like an old (and dead) LPS colony, but I wanted some additional rock (most of my motivation for taking the tank), so I through it in. now the algae's gone and these guys have really perked up...anyone got a name? pic:
ZachS
I have some that look similar. Are the skirts red or orange? I would look into fire and ice zoas
Burningbaal
I'm about 98% sure they're not zoas, a bigger pic was added to first post. they kinda look like acans to me, but they'e a little more separate than the acans I've seen. there seems to be some skeleton in the rock for them, pretty sure it's some kind of LPS. also no skirt like zoas have, its a consistent tissue (no tentacle/frill things like zoas)
ZachS
could be a micromussa
Burningbaal
that looks promising. there's a 'fire red micromussa' on google images that looks similar. maybe I need to wait a bit for it to color up under then new lights
Mohaynow
Looks like some kind of acan to me
kev311
Looks like some kind of acan to me +1 kinda hard to tell from the pic though. You may have to let me keep some in my tank for closer inspection Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
ThePremiumAquarium
It's a Micromussa sp. It's probably no an Acan lord unless it's polyps get to be pretty good sized. It's polyp configuration and size is what is making me lean towards micromussa
