tif
A nice specimen. They're next to impossible to keep well in aquariums. There are so many species with so many different feeding niches that these nearly always starve and waste away. Buying animals like this only promotes stores to purchase more. Good luck with yours, I hope you figure out what it eats.
CoralCrazy
I've done alot of research on it. They have a varied diet and I have no problem spending the money to make sure it gets it.
Jeramy
Awesome sea star, glad to hear you have done some home work on this and I hope that it is a rewarding as well as challenging new addition to your system. =)
CoralCrazy
At the time of me deciding someone else was looking at it and didnt even know what it was but wanted it because of how pretty it was. Plus their tank was still very new so I decided it would have a better chance in a tank that had been running for years compared to a couple months. There is alot of things in the hobby that should be left in the wild. So after doing alot of reading I figured it's already here and I'm willing to do what I can to keep it healthy. It is in a tank with no predators that will pick at it and a pair of shrimp. And shrimp eggs and babies is one of their foods.
tif
Good luck! I understand the scenario you were faced with. While their diet is "varied," they are extremely selective. I'd sure like to know what store was selling these.
CoralCrazy
Well I did a feeding tonight and did a mix of 6 different things. It actually propped itself up and started grabbing food out of the water column and opened up completely. It was a amazing site to see. Just a little hard because they are night feeders so a light pointed away from the tank and my nose touching glass to watch.
