DChemist
Has anyone else been following this thread? I find myself regularly checking for updates... Perhaps I'm a farmer at heart. http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic49395-14-1.aspx
oldbrownies
I always wanted to set something like this up, I think it would be the ultimate in coral keeping!
Piero
cool. and tucked away on the Marine Depot forums, lol. lots of good greenhouse threads on RC's Aquaculture forum too. These days it seems like greenhouses are popping up like he gopher holes in the lawn in springtime, lol. now, hrmmm, how to create an aquaculture system with a minimal carbon footprint. JManrow
I began digging the foundation for a solar aquaculture greenhouse back in 1988 or so, when I first heard about the Tropicorium http://www.tropicorium.com/info.html http://www.tropicorium.com/ . We had to move when the MAX Light Rail started construction near Hwy 217, so my greenhouse really never happened. I still have some of my greenhouse plans and have a few years experience working for professional greenhouses. I would be really enjoy helping anyone out if they have a greenhouse or want to set one up.
DChemist
I'm not ready to set-up a greenhouse... I'm just living vicariously through others.

oldbrownies
I think it would be awesome if you could use things like old water pump wind mills for circulation
Piero
hrm, why is he installing DSBs in all those vats? That's going to be a PITA when he has to remove them for nutrient overload.
SeanF
Now have we thought about this when it comes to deep sand beds. Ok most people that run deep sand beds rely on them for a good majority of their filteration and one of the benefits is supposed to be not having to change the water which leads to the nutrient overload. While Bare bottom tanks are done by frequent vacuuming of the bottom of the tank to take sediments out thus doing water changes on the tank. So why not use the stability of the DSB and do frequent partial water changes to remove nutrients? The problem is people need to stop and think about what is going on in these systems and what is causing the problems with the systems that they are running. So I am personally under the belief that if you understand the advantages/disadvantages of the systems you are trying to build you can set up your tank virtually anyway you want.
