Mandinga
dont be in a rush. try to stabilize the clams temp slowly... How did the bag smell when you opened it up?
Bigjohnwoody
Ok the bag smells fine and the clam is alive. There are so many bags it was really hard to see. The white fleshy part must be the foot and it is attached to ruble rock from live aquaria. It is drip acclimating right now and is opening right up and closing halfway. It seems like it is gaping quite a lot but I am new to this so don't know much. I will continue to drip it for about 45 mins total I figure. Unless you guys think I should go longer or shorter. I will just set the clam and ruble on that small rock that I have and place it in the tank when ready. I need to make sure to check for snail hitchhikers as well. Mitchell
I am glad it is alive. I just temp aclimated my clam, so you can probably shorten your aclimation a little if you want. Make sure to burp it when you put it in the tank. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

Mandinga
Looks good. Do you have anything with claws in your tank?
Bigjohnwoody
So those pieces of ruble rock attached are really hard to work with I feel like I am hurting it. I checked for snails and think I found 1 so I pulled it off and also I burped it but nothing cam out. Here are some pics of how its sitting as of now. If you have any ideas of how to better rearrange it let them fly. Top down shot sorry no underwater lens so its blurry Front view

Bigjohnwoody
Here is a better picture of the mouth. Also can i cut the ruble rock away? It seems so off balance right now and i dont want it to fall and rip. I heard you can cut them at the base of the ruble rock. Or should I just leave it alone for a day or two and then perform surgery or just leave it the way it is regardless?

Yes I have about 25 hermits, 2 emerald crabs, and don't know if you count them but a pair of cleaner shrimp and a pair of blood shrimp

You could put it on the sand so it is more stable if you want. Your lighting is strong enough to keep it on the sand. Emerald525
I agree with putting it on the sand and letting it settle. We lost one that size when it moved and it fell. If they fall they will like die.

chewie
Emerald crabs are known to kill clams, so watch them. Got any info to back up that claim? I've been keeping clams in the same tank with multiple emeralds and have never had a problem with emeralds.
chewie
If it were my clam I would worry about the gaping mouth rather than where it is sitting. I would leave it up on the rocks and build a barrier around it so it can't fall off. If the gaping starts to get better in the next few days I'd say you're OK. steelhead77
Emerald crabs are known to kill clams, so watch them. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk That sounds like one of those things that gets posted on RC and gets repeated often enough until it becomes gospel. No-one's actually seen it happen, but because it was posted on RC it must be true.
jgf86123
I agree with steelhead, I've never heard of emeralds killing clams, and I know a lot of clam owners who have emeralds.
NoobtoSalt
I've got emeralds in my tank with my clam. And these are not small emeralds either.
