tmccarty
where should I place my acan? started off near the bottom of the tank it was doing great, moved to the top, starting to turn a white color...(hopefully its not bleaching). I am kind of a noob, had my tank going for about 7 months.

reefnjunkie
move it back down they do not like to get blasted with light. +1 for not being blasted-they actually prefer low light, I have some of mine in nearly shaded areas which is not required but they are doing great
impur
Welcome to the site!!! Glad to see another Eugene reefer All my acans stay on the sandbed. Some i even shade from the light with my frag rack.
Emerald525
It does sound like your Acan is just bleached. If that doesn't help and it seems it is receding like an Acan I had I was told to dip it in betadine solution. You just use enough to make the water pale yellow and dip it in the solution for one minute.
tmccarty
Thanks everyone, It is going in the sand bed when I get home from work.
Algae
I've got Acans about halfway up in a 22" tank running 6 X 54 Watt lights. Doing fine, but if I move them down to about 7" above the bottom the bright orange acans become a lesser bright orange but takes on a green rim. One of those buys from a lfs that was basting their Acans. Another Eugene Reefer. Welcome!
bswe22
The acan I have is at the top of my tank and doing great. It is bright red and extends out very far. It is in a 20 gallon with a 24" 4 bulb T5 fixture. Bryan
theJenchild
Mine is on the sand bed in a 24" tall tank with just one 150W MH bulb. Seems happy!
