mltnguyen
I’m looking to start a nano tank in a 10 gallon I have laying around. I am planning on having some Ricordia, Zoanthids and a few softies. My question is how much lighting do you think I need, and would you go CF, T5, or MH. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. jgf86123
If I'm right on my figures, the standard 10g is only 24" long, correct? Or is it 20"? Regardless, this light here: http://www.petmountain.com/product/aquarium-light-fixtures/512404/current-usa-nova-extreme-t5ho-x2-saltwater.html will work perfectly for you. I'd go T5's all the way personally on a 10g.
lancecobb1
I would go t5s also! They are cooler than mh and there are tons of different bulb colors you can try out!
snowpunk
Not metal halides that's for sure. Any of the rest will do fine. I ran PC's on my first tank and softies, mushrooms and anemones all did great.
pledosophy
Why are you a bunch of MH haters? You could run a 70w viper and be great on that tank. Lot's of nano systems run MH's. A 10g is most likely 20" long, I'm not even sure you could get a high output T5 for that size, but you might be able to. For what your planning to keep an 18w PC bulb would work fine, but the halides do give the shimmer, which is pretty cool and something I miss since switching my tanks to T5's. I will be going back to the MH's soon.

CA2OR
I guess I am against some of these guys. I would personally put a 150w clip on MH over that bad boy....that's what I put over my 12g and I loved it
huskerduck
Kind of a fan of shimmer personally. Reef tanks and shimmer kind of go together like money flying out of your pocket and reef tanks
