Parzifal
I have put several types of soundproofing in aquarium stands and am wondering what all of your experiences are with different products. If you could list the types you have used and how well they worked that would be fantastical.
Michael7979
Is it pump noise you are trying to lessen? Have you put something similar to a mouse-pad under it to lessen vibration?
Rick
As mentioned what type of noise are trying to soundproof against? There are different ways to reduce noise depending upon what is creating it.
nnewhouse
I have never used soundproofing under my tanks. There are little tricks to make your equipment quieter. (i.e. rubber sheet under pump, air trap at end of skimmer's air intake)
Parzifal
I'm going to be putting thin rubber pads under the D.T. and sump, noise wise i am looking to reduce whatever noise will come from pumps/PS/water movement.
Rick
Water movement shouldn't make much noise. If it does then you can adjust the water level and drain method to pretty much eliminate it.
Mandinga
I've got alot of noise coming from my drain. It is a 1 1/2" bulkhead...any tips on reducing the "gurgling" from the overflow drain? It seems like the noise is coming from the intake, not where the water drains into the sump.
CCR
How about posting pictures. It will help us help. Or the quickest is ear plugs.(whistle)
Rick
Along with the pics describe how the drain is set up now. Do you have an overflow box for instance?

I have mine pretty darn quiet now.
snowpunk
their are a few options for silent overflows now, just have to see what your working with so we can help to come up with a plan to fix it. My new tank will have a BeanAnimal overflow which seems to be the best known way to go but you have to plan for it since most overflows don't have room for it. I have a Hoffer Gurgle Buster on my little overflow now since I am cramped for space. It's easily made with $5 worth of plumbing and a dremel, and once adjusted is 99% silent. Just get a picture up if you can and maybe give us the overflow dimensions too:)
Mandinga
ok, will work on picture soon. it is just a basic 1 1/2" bulkhead that has a L shaped PVC on the back of the tank...
Rick
Do you have an overflow box inside the tank?
