gopens
Well the fish guy is going to be here in the next hour. somehow i forgot to take care of the back of my tank i.e. paint, or paper. i have been told if i rattle can the back black, it will make for a very clean back of the tank. is this a crappy way of doing it. or would it look just like a black piece of glass. i am honestly afraid of painting the 500 dollar aquarium and make it look the crap. also there is the fish tank paper you put on the back. does this work as well. some help would be nice. i am ready to paint the tank but want some direction. also if i do paint the tank, is there a kind of paint i should use. thanks
ringwurm
Paint isn't as easy to remove as the plastic colored paper. I used the blue/black plastic roll paper from petco.
fly guy
Is it a glass tank????? If so just get some Krylon Fusion black(or whatever....i used to have a dark blue that i liked a lot) spraypaint. Then it can be fairly easily removed for any reason down the road. Disclaimer...IF its glass
siskiou
I'm at the same stage, having finally moved everything out of the 40G. How do you attach the plastic background with out having pieces of tape sticking around the edges?
gopens
it is a glass aquarium. now the back paint i have is Krylon indoor/outdoor black paint. would this work like the infusion does?
CCR
I woud think but Not 100% SURE, be sure to cover the entire top of tank, including plastic frame top, also, if you haven't cleaned the glass, Be sure to, vinigar will do just fine, then no touchy, paint won't stick well over finger prints

Guest Mbeef61
i have used a trick with backgrounds in the past....is that you use vaseline to connect the background to tank...you apply a super thin even layer on back of tank and then attach and squeegie out air bubbles...this is good for keeping out water and salt creep from between galss and background.....also you can use a latex paint and when you change or whatever you can pretty much peel it off...i rattle canned my 100 acrylic with black paint for plastic and it looks awesome...no different than 160 more for a black acrylic back pane....if its glass though i would latex that bad boy either black or blue....hth
B Foxy
No matter how well you tape the backing up on the tank it will ALWAYS get salt creep inbetween the glass and blue/black backing. go to store. buy cheapest black spraypaint. Clean back of tank. paint back of glass tank. Dont paint the tank in an enclosed space.. Voila

mister crabs
the fusion works awesome on a glass tank....great coverage and no light bleed thru.....it basically goes on like latex in a rattle can
nu2reef-n
I left mine clear. the coraline algae has covered most of it. You can still see some of the hardware on the back, towards the top. It's not that big of a deal is it? It's what's inside that counts.
WAVES
I bought a $1.29 ish can of spray paint and it took 3.5 cans to get the back of a 75 covered... Ive had reallly good luck with the Krylon paint. I bought a case to use at Waves now.
