markdadof2
How long do you guys / gals leave your GFO in your reactor for? What is a good rule of thumb? 2 weeks? 4 weeks? Thanks!
dsoz
Jordan at Waves told me... Until it is all used up and phosphates start showing up in your system. Real definitive answer. I tend to go about a month. By that time the little sponge thing in my reactor is full of crud and it starts pushing the media to the top of the reactor. If it is compacted, it is probably not working well. So it all comes apart for a good cleaning. My algae problems have gone away, so it must be soon enough. dsoz
Randy-S
measure the outbound water from your reactor if it reads 0 its still working.

prada
I change mine out every month. Been working great me. Get the High Capacity. Brandon.
siskiou
How much GFO do you guys add to your reactor? Mine fits a pound easily, but that gets expensive if thrown out every month!
dsoz
I only put about 1/4 to 1/3 of the reactor full of GFO. It is supposed to tumble around. If it is full, then it does not tumble as good. I have one of these reactors on each of my tanks. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Carbon-and-Phosphate-Remover-GFO-Media-Bags-&-Reactors/c109_85/p623/ViaAqua-Poly-Reactor-PR-20/20/product_info.html dsoz
impur
I use about 5 tablespoons at a time and change it every 2 months.
siskiou
I must have misunderstood the instructions or something! My package says to use 1-2 tablespoons per 4 Gallons of tankwater! That would be 30-60 tablespoons for 120G.
markdadof2
I have a few inches of GFO in mine....not sure if that is right or not.
