@bamburgb With the store closed Monday & Tuesday, and all day meetings today and tomorrow it's likely going to be Friday. But I do live about 10 minutes from CnC so if you're going to be in the area we can meet up if you need it earlier. Thanks!

I’m good for now, still working on the light stand for the new lights I got.

EDIT: sorry these are 2ft. They have 3ft and 4ft for your needs though!

old picture and tank but you can see I had them mounted in between my leds. only pic I could find unfortunately...

Best bet for your $ as they have built in ballast, are linkable, and have nice reflectors and your lights are bright! I just hooked up to a simple timer.

Would you recommend going the full length of the tank (6’) or do you think doing just 4’ centered would be ok?

leaves room for adding some t5s!

I tried to do that with my light stand I made but I couldn’t find any T5 2 bulb fixtures that were the length of the tank, I was gonna add 2 bulbs in the front and 2 in the back but ya.

If you haven't checked out SB Reef lights I really like mine, I have a 32" SB Reef Pro with timer and I believe it ran me around ~$300, they have other sizes as well, basic (without timer or Wifi) Pro (with timer) Extreme (with WiFi and timer)10, 18", 22", 32" and they have retrofit kits as well. Plus they come with a two year warranty, they're affordable and the colors look amazing in my opinion. I'm already planning on getting another for my daughter's tank417c3409fc8c5631f0d22bec283e2598.jpg45bf0d78ee88081bd2a986d33f38ee3c.jpg9d231efda1274659b8571634ee689afa.jpgfb7d4af4b0beb3e22db84028729931b8.jpg06240454e94c362fd58969805e0a8fcc.jpgfcb2fd26b2c53786736f3d36c1402b47.jpg2c87b6881c6012dea49e3c8f4ec8e8d3.jpg

Thanks, I’ll check them out, hadn’t looked at them.

  5. Looking at getting some new lights because the half the blue channel on my lights has went out again and I’m tired of repairing them. They are about 8 yrs old or older.

i have a mixed reef 180 gallon display, am looking at the Red Sea 90 and actinic T247, but am worried about the depth of the tank for both As my light mounting is ~12” above the water. Anyone have experience with these? Any other suggestions? I’m not trying to break the bank so I’m ruling out radions G5’s and Hydra 64s (although I really like both).

my current set up is 3x reefcorner 180p’s

  6. So looking at moving the tank one thing came to mind, who has a large tank (180 gallon or more) on carpet and has moved it? Was there a lot of residue under the tank (I know mine has been messy and over flowed a few times)? How did you clean it if there was? I’m thinking I would rent a rug dr or something but not sure How well that would work.

  7. So later this week I’ll be moving the tank from one location in the house to another, and am thinking I might take this mini tear down as a chance to change out my sand. I currently have crushed coral coarse sand, what would people suggest, also tank is a 180 gallon.

  8. So as some of us maybe stuck at home be extra careful when working on your tank.

As a good reminder to people when doing work on your sump and taking it offline, make sure your tank has enough surface agitation for gas exchange. I started adding a baffle to My sump last night to make a refugium and didn’t ensure enough surface agitation, when I came down this morning I saw my yellow tang struggling to breath and 2 other fish at the surface trying to get air and a few others moving around the tank extremely slowly. Luckily after realizing what was happening and why (took only a few seconds to think what could cause it) I moved my gyers to the surface and after about 15 min everyone seemed like they were back to normal.

I know some people may say you could just bring the sump back on but I was waiting for the baffle to dry and the sump was drained for this and the rodi hadn’t finished making enough water for it yet (incorporating a 30 gallon water change while doing this).

Unless you have alot of sps you can get away with 2 led but 3 would be better. I can get away with 2 foot between them but have to put low light Lps in the gap. My aquarium is 8'x 3'x 2'. I have 4 radion gen 4 pro's and 8 T5 bulbs. I am going to need more led's fairly soon with my tank starting to become Sps dominant to fill in the 2 foot gaps. If I could afford it.

I was gonna be updating my LED's but due to the cost Im just looking at maybe adding my spare in and then adding T5's. Right now i only have a few SPS but am planning on getting more soonish.
