At the time, they were already larger than the usual black trochus snails, maybe close to 1" size. Within a few months, I noticed they grow pretty fast and was intrigued to find more info. As a kid growing up in Taiwan, my parents would take us kids to the coast. I remember street vendors selling large polished triangular snails which resembled these guys. After some googling (which is harder without know what these guys are called), I found that they are being activity breed with giant clams. Fully grown can reach 15cm across. Mine have grown to slightly smaller than baseball size. According to G.A.HESLINGA and A. HILLMANN, they can be easily captive breed. Mine are not nearly that big but he did explain how big they can get. Funny timing you have posting this. Regular Trochus breed regularly in my tank so we'll see what these do. My triggers probably ignore things that small. I think my wrasses ate all tiny ones in my DT. I havent had to buy any snails in while thanks to them. Got 2 more several months back which are starting to catch up to the big ones. For their size, they are surprisingly "gentle" when moving through my coral frags.I think it would be fun to do a growout competition on these guys.
