BoringDave
Does anyone have one with a Aquatrance pump? I'm interested in the classic 150 space saver in particular. I would like to know how loud they are. I've watched every video I can find but most all I can hear is water draing in the sumps.
BoringDave
I broke down and ordered one from C&C. I just hope it's as quite as the reviews I've read.
TheClark
Should be a killer skimmer, I think BlueZ Reef has one with an aquatrance.
Blue Z Reef
Mine has the DC5500 on it. The aqua trance aren't DC pumps. It's going to be a good skimmer and you can always swap the pump later if it's not up to par.
BoringDave
I can hardly wait! It's suppose to be at C&C Wednesday.
BoringDave
Not quite at all! You can hear this thing run in every room of my house. Just as loud maybe even louder then the Bubble Magus I had.

BoringDave
Na, I'm about done with the whole thing. Here soon it's all going to be in the classified section.
TheClark
Dang, try putting a silicone pad under the pump? Sometimes the pump vibrates against the tank. If it is the air intake making noise there are options for that too. let us know...
BoringDave
The pump it self to has little rubber feet on it then another set on the bottom of the body. But I did notice putting it together that they machine the hole in the side of the body real tight. You can just get the Venturi though the acrylic. They should have used a silicone grommet of some sort right there. By doing what they did kinda cancelles out putting rubber feet on the pump. Makes no since? Put rubber feet on one end of the pump and hard mount the other.
BoringDave
Well I figured out what I did wrong. When I got back from C&C last night it was about 7:30 and I was just burnt out from traffic and driving. I set it up didn't read any instructions. I stuffed the air tube way up inside the muffler. But the noise it was making sounded like a pump running. So tonight when I got home I started tinkering and this is what I came up with. It didn't matter how much of the air tube I pushed in or out of the factory RO muffler it sounded like poo. A little bit of Google and bang! Diy skimmer muffler. Its still a bit noisy but manageable. Thanks TheClark for giving me a few ideas to work with. Dave Edited May 29, 2015 by BoringDave
TheClark
Sweet! If it is loud sucking air, that is a good problem. You have an air sucking machine, all good on a skimmer. One thing to consider... you can double up the mufflers by chaining them together, might silence it once and for all.
