  1. That's great! The more I look on here the more I see everybody is the portland greater area. I'm going to go ahead and fill out the questionnaire for the drawing... How did you hear about Pnwmas? search engine How long have you been in the hobby? 7 years, not including an equal hiatus. Who inspired you start up a tank? I was abalone diving when I was 14 and pulled an ab with several barnacles on it. I used mortons salt and they died but the seed was planted. What size aquarium or aquariums do you have? Currently a high tech 5g pico reef I'm building and a low tech planted. What livestock do you have? Dreams What is your dream fish? Either a Desjardins tang or a school of anthias. What is your dream coral? Individually I love ricordias. Though in a larger tank a mix of plate montis and branching stonies of good color is my favorite. Anything else you would like to add? I'm into trade/purchase from Creswell to Albany, Florence to Oakridge. Im looking for the nicer pedigrees because my pico is intended as a seed tank. Also I'm a contractor if you have any questions regarding your home I'm always happy to help the community with an opinion.
  2. Is there anybody with some chaeto in the Eugene/Corvallis/Florence area? New tank!
  3. I'd recommend retaining airflow and enough space to get your hand under a stand to wipe it up. Any attempt to seal it will trap moisture and cause cupping or mildew. I see it all the time on hardwood that has vinyl over it in areas where a dishwasher or toilet has leaked and it doesn't take a lot of moisture. Personally I'd put a small fan down to help any excess moisture wick out.
  4. Membership draw? Sounds good, what is it? Lol I had a 40 gallon chaeto fuge and a 20 gallon green spotted puffer tank (which i did feed live guppies and mysis) in that system and a lightly stocked tank. You could net pods out of the fuge after shaking the chaeto.
  5. After a 6 year hiatus from reefing, I'm jumping back into it. I've been waiting for the day my tiny house is "done" and I could setup a 20gal but at this point I just need a tank I can pick up and move around. So after being gifted a fluval spec V from my pops this Thanksgiving I decided its time. I've still got all my equipment from the 75g display days so I'm using an aquacontroller jr to control heat and an ice probe chiller. My house can fluctuate from 60-90 degrees in extreme weather so I'm overkilling the temp control. The bottom of the stand is cutout for air flow and will sit up an inch. I used a thin piece of rock to give myself some hiding space for those items, the ice probe is drilled into the bottom of the tank. A chaeto fuge will fill in the rest of the back corner. Im big on refugiums. I once went 6 months without feeding my fish in my 75g my pod production was so good. I did culture and feed phytoplankton. Anyhow, my goal for this tank is to have an easy to maintain, stable, compact, aesthetically pleasing package for zoas and sps that I can transport across the country, as-is in 2 years.
  6. Hey friends, I'm Mike. I've been out of the hobby for about 6 years. Previously kept mixed reef about 5 years and about a decade of salt/fresh/palidarium. I've lived in a tiny house these lasr 6 years and haven't had the room... Until I got a betta bowl, which quickly turned into an emergent planted tank and now I'm doing some heavy mods to a fluval spec 5 for a mixed pico which will some seed a larger tank. I'm hoping to sync up with local folks for frags, because the fish stores really are one of Oregon's least favorable points.
