  1. Hi, I am a Refrigeration mechanic who specializes in ultra low freezers(-80c). I have a boiler class 5 license and a LEB electrical. I work on a lot of chillers, so if anyone needs help, I’m definitely willing. I’m also capable of installing/repairing HVAC systems. Like I said, I’m here to help so if you need advice, just holler!
  2. I used sbreef’s diodes layout since a lot of people were ranting and raving about how well they performed. However, when I bought the replacement diodes they were always given a range for example “royal blue” 440nm-450nm. So, I’m unsure that I got the exact spectrum I was looking for? I was researching the other day and found a par/spectrum meter called a seneye, I think. I might have to buy one to see where I am. Be cool to create ideal spectrum/par of the high end LEDs at a fraction of the price! Also had a hard time finding 14000k epistle style diodes. Anyone have a line?
  3. Hi, You are right. Several of the diodes were out and since they’re in series, took out the whole channel. I replaced the diodes several months ago. Was very easy! I switched out the 3500k for U.V.. just was unsure how many U.V. Bulb were necessary? Also, I added a few 20000k diodes. I was curious if anyone else had changed out diodes for better spectrum and what the results were?
  4. I’ve got a purple Stylophora that grows really good probably doubled in size in the last few months! One of my favorites!
  5. Nice, might have to try to talk you out of a frag if the Cali tort! I’ve had issues with my hammer colony stinging Monti caps! Caused some STN
  6. Hi, I have two of the mars aqua Chinese black LED I inherited from the previous owner. When I got them the blue channels were not working on one and the other had some diodes burned out. I decided to have a go at replacing diodes. During my research, I found that a ton of people were changing bulb colors for better spectrum? I ended up finding a diode color spectrum layout from sbreef. I copied it. Anyone played with these at all?
  7. Thanx for the warm receiving! But I must warn you, I ask a lot of questions! BTW the name is a joke I’m far from a sps champion/master. Hoping to be one someday! Lol I’ll put up pictures of my tank tomorrow. Light out for tonite
  8. Does the hammer sting the Cali tort?
  9. Wow, that’s pretty fast! Thank you for sharing and nice acros btw

  11. That’s a good idea! Thanx! Also I noticed you have some Acropora. How fast do the “fast” growers grow for you? I know this is kind of a loaded question but I’m curious thanx
  12. I just purchased the Red Sea phosphate rest and I use the Salifert for nitrate. Both samples stay completely clear! Which according to instructions is zero. I’m wishing I had bought the Hanna checker for phosphate now
  13. Hi, I have a 120 gallon mixed reef tank. I’ve had it up and running for about six months. I am relatively new to the hobby, but reading and researching everything I can. I perform an array of water tests, every week. One thing I’ve noticed consistently is that the tests show zero nitrate and zero phosphate. Yet, I have algae so I know this cannot be true. I’ve read that coral need low levels of both nitrate and phosphate for color/growth. I was previously dosing red seas no pox daily. I have recently stopped altogether. I’ve also begun feeding heavier. I’m curious, is there likely nitrate and phosphate in the tank that the algae absorbs faster then I can pick up on the tests? Also, if I continue to “dirty” the water will it just fuel the algae growth rather then make nutrients available to the coral? Thanx in advance for the help!
  14. Hi, Just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself and my tank. I’m relatively new to the hobby and I have a 120 gallon reef tank with a 30 gallon sump. I bought the system used and have had it up and running for about six months. I have a bunch of different types of corals, but I seem to be into sps the most. Looking to learn anything and everything I can! Thanx
