  1. I own 3 of the XP Aqua Duettos and love them. Never had any issues at all. I have 1 in a Fluval 13.5 AIO, one in a 16 gallon and 1 in my main tank. Never had an issue. I also own an auto aqua smart micro. Currently running on my freshwater tank. I have had to replace the pump once. Also don't care for the fact that the sensor has a bright blue/red LED that shows in the tank. The Duettos have the led on the controller. Plus the sensor has a high and low. If the water goes over the top sensor the pump is cut off.

Totally understand that.  This hobby is expensive, most normal people take it in steps.  Like boiling a frog slowly, we don't even realize how expensive it is til its too late :)

This controller looks cool to me, its a hardware kit for the reef pi.  If I were starting fresh, would definitely consider it as a research topic at least:

That looks interesting and within a price range I'm looking to spend.  I'm also very tech savvy and that would be a fun project.

Since I have a nano, the price of a Apex would basically be almost the price of the whole system since I was doing a 'budget' build :D

Awesome!  If you try it out, please post back.  I am a big open source fan, love to see this kind of stuff happening!  Figured at the very least, run one to control the topoff stations...

I recently won a robo-tank on reef2reef and got it hooked up a couple of days ago. I have been using DIY reefpi controllers for almost a year now. I have to say I really like the robo-tank. I am mediocre at soldiering, and not having to do any of that is nice. There are a ton of connections for the robo-tank. Reefpi can do all kinds of monitoring (float, optical, non-contact sensors). Temperature monitoring and control. Dosing or other dc pump control. Lights like Kessel or anything that is 0-10v control.

I've ordered from reeftopia.com (they are the collectors) multiple times over the years.  A good experience every time.  BTW, this is where I've gotten volume clean up crews.  Hermits, snails, emerald crabs when I've had bubble algae...

Thanks! That reminds me I need to put together a clean up crew for my new 100g tank. I will check them out.

Yeah did you see the process? Someone posted it on R2R. It's pretty intense and I think it only measures on the low side. But I guess it's a start.

Going to be pretty nice in a few years when you can set it and forget it.

Thank you for saying something. I had pre-ordered it but after checking out those instructions, I will hardly ever use it, kinda like the calcium checker. I cancelled my preorder.
