  1.

I've been using this Captive Reef Series LED light fixture on my quarantine tank, bought it used a few months ago and I don't need it anymore. It works great, not the prettiest, looks like someone had duct tape or something on it and there's still remnants of it there (on the black part, doesn't affect the function at all) I never tried removing it because I was only using it on my quarantine tank so it didn't bother me, it's fully programmable and I have the instructions on my phone. I never took the time to program it myself I just plugged it into a timer. Looking to trade for Red Mushrooms or mushroom rock, Orange Ricordias, Pulsing Xenia, Bubble tips, zoa's, palys, whatever really. Big LPS fan [emoji2]

  2. Fire and Ice Zoas [emoji4] I could most likely scrape some and throw them in a frag plug for ya?
I'll PM you, I'm trying to add more reds, blues and oranges to my tanks. I have way too much when it comes to greens and purples [emoji848] I'm always looking for more bubble tips too! I like variety, trying to fill my 50 with them.

  3. I have three good handheldTDS meters you can have one of you want one! I'm obsessively checking mine lol. I'd have to agree with buying a good RODI, you can get a good one in your price range and an even better one for a bit more

  4. I've always been fascinated by the Long Fin Clowns, theyre not what you expect a Clown to look like. I love reading your posts with your Clown breeding, I would absolutely love to try it some day but I'm a little intimidated [emoji853] I have a beautiful Wyoming White female that I would like to try pairing with a male Black Storm, not quite a matching pair but I've already made up my mind on a Black Storm so hopefully my female Wyoming White will accept it once I find one. That reminds me if anyone knows of any Black Storm Clowns I'd like to know [emoji6]

  5. Oh my gosh I am so sorry [emoji22] it's a terrible situation no matter what but at least you were able to find a buyer to buy all of your livestock at once, trying to sell off everything that quickly a few at a time would have been an absolute nightmare. All the best to you

  6. Sorry for the terrible pic but will this work? I always have Citric Acid for candy making anyway [emoji16] Great for making my favorite Blue Raspberry Jolly ranchers recipe. I never would have thought of using it for cleaning aquarium parts but if it works I'll give it a tryd16d2f8c2674c5fa9fc46429ccc5bfb1.jpg

Oh I was just recently looking into those! I was thinking about getting the system in a couple months when it's time to replace mine anyway, you should post your review of it after using it for a while

  8. Those type of heaters are a ticking time bomb.   We had one years ago and will never own one again.  Blew up in the tank... lost many corals and fish.

I've actually talked about this before, I lost almost everything and had to start over when mine apparently got stuck on the highest temp setting of course while I was gone. The water temp was 94 when I returned and the smell was terrible, although I had lost a lot of $$ in corals, nems (I had over 100 bta's in that tank I believe) I was saddened most by the loss of my original Clowns [emoji174] I now just use Eheim heaters with a temp controller on all my tanks and replace the heaters after about eight months no matter what. I also have one of those little digital thermometers with the probes on all my tanks and glance at each while I'm feeding the fish every day. So far fingers crossed everything has been going great. Unfortunately heaters aren't built to last long, even the more expensive ones, that's why I started just replacing them more often even though they're still working. Better safe than sorry. I'm not saying that my way or what I'm currently using is the only way to do it I'm just speaking from experience and what I learned from it and learning the hard way

  9. The tank has no pipes. No sump.
New aqua clear, new heater, no substrate.  2 new pcv elbos.
Rocks dry for at least year. Maybe there were eggs on dry rock. That's the only thing I can think of. It's a plain glassbtank. With nothing in it. Really. Just 100 clowns.  No other items.

I was curious about this and googled it and apparently you're not alone, it only takes one aptasia cell to start and says they can lay dormant on even dry live rock!? Can be carried in by fish, sand, water etc. Yikes. It's hard to say where yours came from for sure but wow that really makes you wonder where it could have came from

  10. Oh wow I don't think you'll have trouble finding homes for them. I wanted to ask you if you are going to be getting anymore of the Black Storm Clowns in anytime soon?? Sorry to hijack but I've decided that's what I want for a mate for that female Wyoming White I got from you.

  11. I do remember a member here mentioning their's not too long ago but I can't remember who it was, I really can't imagine they would be too much different or any different than other Clowns other than being bred for their longer fins as far as care or breeding but you pretty much have to expect to pay a bit more for these types anyway. I've fell in love with the Black Storms 😍 and am trying to convince myself if they're worth the $140 so I understand! I hope someone else here that does have them or have had them can help you though.

  12. Welcome! You've come to the right place. I'd be happy to give you some free starter corals when your tank is ready, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. When I was first starting out on the forums sometimes there were questions I'd be scared to ask or maybe seemed silly but I quickly found there's a lot to learn in this hobby and having a place like this to help each other and be able to ask those questions is amazing. I look forward to seeing pictures of your tank once you do take the plunge! I think having experience with freshwater can definitely give you a bit of an advantage over someone starting never have owned a tank, knowing about cycling, general tank maintenance etc. I recommend reading threads of everything you can think of on different saltwater forums, and find out the must-haves for a saltwater (skimmer, ATO are a couple that come to mind) whether you'd like to start with a fish only tank or immediately start with some easier corals, if you want to buy all new or maybe start with a nice used complete setup or buy separate items and build your own tank. You should consider the tank build thread once you do start! Adding pictures, and being able to ask questions as you go is super helpful.
