  1. I did have one I was treating and getting ready for sale but after I had that fire in my fish room it died :(
So now I’m back to just the one in my display. I’ll hopefully be QTing some more in the near future. [emoji1696]

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry [emoji22] what happened!? Do you know what caused the fire?

  2. Hi, about a year and a half ago, I replaced a bunch of the LEDs in my mars aqua. I tried to match the LED layout of the SB reef lights. I noticed the other day that many of the UV spectrum diodes have blackened the lense. I also noticed that sbreef lights claims they use a different lense for their UV diodes that is supposed to last longer. Anyone have much experience with the board retro fit kits? I am also considering just getting an entirely new lights. I think the ones I have are likely 5+ years old. Not sure how long the drivers are good for. Just noticed YouTube has a bunch of negative reviews of the sbreeflights failing after about a year and it taking several months to get a replacement. Anyone have experience with this? I would like to use sbreeflights products since I have had great results using their spectrum. Plus, I feel I kind of owe them since I did copy their spectrum. Thanx Pete
I don't have experience with the retrofit kits but I have an SB Reef 32 Pro and I love it, I like that it comes with a 2 year warranty too. I'm on the SB Reef Facebook page a lot and people say they have excellent luck getting through in Facebook to the company, I have never needed to contact them for any reason so I can't really help you there. They really do have great lights in my opinion, I plan on buying more when my lights need an upgrade on my other tanks

  3. I've also started using the heavier stuff, like crushed coral. It was too annoying seeing little bald spots develop over time from my pumps with fine grade sand. I've heard it can trap detritus easier but I have lots of sand critters and I haven't noticed anything, been using it in my tanks for about a year and it's nice not having to look at sand blowing around or bare spots develop.

Wow pretty neat! I've seen my hammers bubble, I guess they can do it when they're splitting so I suppose other corals could as well? Never seen anything other that Hammers do it personally though, and yours looks happy [emoji16]

  5. [emoji54] now this is what I'm talking about! Beautiful peice! Where did you find it? I'm an LPS fan and have been keeping an eye out for nice big LPS peices like this. And a year already, wow that flew by. Your tank looks amazing, I really like your aquascape and your fish choices.

  6. I think I dealt with more if a depression where the tank sat, like you could really tell something was there. We did this after a move out, that particular tank I had made some messes during water changes (like knocking over 5 gallon buckets lol) and I was always worried about the carpet. After we moved I just used a carpet shampooer but it won't do much for the depression if ones left there unfortunately, at least in my case it didn't. I'm not sure if that's something that goes away over time or not though because like I said it was during our move out.

  7. Typically anything that nukes an aiptasia leads to a bigger outbreak of aiptasia months later. Ask me how I know

You just cover it with this and wait... Then the aptasia just crumbles away. It's different than all the other stuff on the market, people really seem to like this because it doesn't irritate them (or nuke them [emoji54] lol) into multiplying like mad. There's all kinds of threads on it on Melevsreef and I saw a few others on a couple other forums too, if I had any aptasia I'd definitely try it out. 8. Wow I just watched a video and briefly read about F Aptasia. Does it actually harden around the aptasia once coated?
From what I understand yes, I follow and watch a lot of Melevsreef and he's been talking about F Aptasia for a while, another forum I'm a member of has several members that swear by it

  9. woot, I got a call from the freight company today my tank is scheduled to be here sometime next tuesday.
Also picked up a used in very good condition 26" trigger systems emerald sump from a guy locally last night, to replace the old basic eshopps one the baffles started separating from the sides on when I was cleaning it

Awesome [emoji106] I'm getting excited with you lol! So how far are you on a livestock list? Any ideas for fish stocking yet? I realize you have a little time but I'm curious [emoji6]

  10. I have two Green Toadstool frags right now, one on a small rock, the frag itself is about the size of a nickel, the other Green Toadstool frag is on a frag disc, the actual frag is a sort of comma shape, maybe 2 1/2 long? I could also just pull a peice of Green Star Polyps off a rock super easy, and I have at least a couple individual green Mushrooms attached to rubble or small rocks but could easily take off a couple or few more if you want more than one or two. As far as the zoas I could chisel off a few for you of either or both. Let me know!

  11. I have a frag with a few of these (this isn't the actual frag, just a pic of what they look like) with a couple small branches of Kenya tree coral attached to the small rock as well. These aren't the actual corals like I said, just I picture I pulled of the internet that looks like them, I could try to get better pics if you want c8ab06549285e7efb9161dcef8d82151.jpg

  12. Here's some of the Orange Zoas and you can kind of see some of the Green Zoas, sorry I can take better pics when my lights come on, this picture was taken a couple minutes after lights on yesterday so not all polyps are open, I actually took the picture to upload on Facebook to try to figure out what type of Zoas they are a7a7cfb5d24e4a5d805a0f41b5365c83.jpg

  13. Looking for corals for my kids tank. Mostly softies but LPS would be okay. They have a few green mushrooms and some Xenia but that’s it. Thanks everyone.
I may be able to help you, I have Green Star Polyps, Green Mushrooms, Green Toadstool frags, some Xenia the larger polyp type that doesn't pulse, frags of Xenia that does pulse, a couple small Kenya tree frags, frag of common green palys, Orange Zoas, Green Zoas. Located Forest Grove area, I'd be mainly interested in trades if you have any but would still sell cheap if no trades. Let me know if you're interested in anything, I don't have much that's considered higher end, mostly common easy stuff right now. Heck I'll even toss in a handful of Dwarf Cerith snails if you want, I bought a Reefcleaners package a while back and now I have dozens of the Dwarf Cerith snails in my 50, I didn't know they could breed in tanks but apparently they can

  14. BUMP, still looking! Available Saturday to buy if anyone has any. I did find some from someone on the forum but they wanted to wait until the lockdown is lifted I guess and apparently doesn't want to ship which I completely understandbut who knows when the lockdown will be lifted so I'm looking elsewhere for now.

  15. Looking for enough live rock rubble to fill a gallon Ziploc baggy , a bit more or less would be great too, I have no clue what that would weight so I can't give a weight of what I want... Just about enough to fill a Ziploc baggy lol. A few slightly larger peices would work as well, just looking for some more rock for my sump. Prefer live rock, already cured would be ideal, also somewhat local Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Aloha, Beaverton etc, possibly Portland. If you have any please let me know your location and what you want for it, I can pay cash, I don't have anything much worth trading right now. Also looking for some Amphipods (the larger pods) to seed one of my tanks and still looking for long polyp Toadstools!

  16.
Hopefully that'll start in the next week or 2, I don't have a tracking number for the tank but SC has it marked as shipped and I got an email notification that it was shipped
Probably start the thread with building my stand after the tank gets here and I can get a few measurements to double check my plans and make sure everything is going to clear.  I really don't want to burn all my lumber building the stand then find out there isn't enough room to get the bulkhead nuts on past the 2x4 frame rail on the back lol

Yeah that would probably happen too lol, best to wait and take all your measurements. It's so nice to see people just starting doing such a great job with planning, I remember just tossing up an old freshwater tank expecting things to work with the bare minimum [emoji51] ended up learning a ton as I progressed but it definitely would have been much better to start out like you're doing

  17. well now that I've waffled around enough on it (and the 80g seapora lagoon tank went up in price to 701) I finally decided on the SC Aquariums 90g rimless 36x24x24.  Ordered it this morning, should have it by end of next week it looks like

It had come down to pretty much the seapora or the SC, I think what really sealed it for me was the SC being starfire vs the seapora being regular glass and steve telling me he'd honor the warranty using my own built stand so long as I used solid 3/4 top (except the drain cutout) and self leveling mat.  The $99 extra over the seapora was worth it for those 2 things.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing a build thread, I say it all the time but I love seeing people's tanks progress. It's awesome that you are doing your research and planning, my first saltwater tank I just dove right in without knowing much, I had several years of freshwater experience but it still didn't prepare me for saltwater. I learned a lot of things the hard way, then started reading, studying, watching videos (Melevsreef is still a favorite of mine) so you're definitely off to a better start that I was

  18. Thanks for all of the info guys! I love this forum! I did look into the sb reef lights but didn't see a size that works for me (didn't know there was a 45" one) but they look pretty similar to my old light and I'm ready to change it up. I would've loved to try the reefi lights but I'm laid off right now and the wife and I decided it's not the best time to spend that much $. I did see at a frag swap recently that Daniel was using a pendant style prototype, it looked great, I'll be looking into it for my small tank if he starts selling them!
Anyways we ordered the Reefbreeders v2+ 50. Im excited that it doesn't ramp up the colors on the hour, it is supposed to slowly ramp up throughout each hour. Logan gave us 10% off for being return customers and gave me a part for my old light for free. I think it came out to $643. But I'm a bit nervous since I've never seen the light on a tank (other than in pictures). It should be here at the end of the week so we'll see!
Nice! I'm glad you found something!

  19. I have two of these and they are model citizens and all I have is small fish and one yellow tang. The only thing they attack is my arm. Sometimes it is really jarring. They are totally awesome otherwise. Love those little F***kers.

Wow you're lucky! Yeah I definitely experience the attacking of the hand from the larger one, he flares his fins and attacks [emoji23] if he wasn't so small it wouldn't be so funny. I actually tried just grabbing him with my bare hands to catch him since he's fearless, I almost grabbed him a couple times but he caught on quick to what I was trying to do so I had to resort to pulling out the larger rocks to catch him and the other one. I really didn't want to have to pull out all the rocks so I was almost considering a hook and bait lol. He really didn't start getting aggressive until I moved the Yellow Tang to another tank so I'm thinking in a tank with larger more aggressive fish he will be likely be fine. I have someone picking them both up Saturday so hopefully he will calm down some in a tank with larger fish.

  20. I love Azures! Had three for awhile but they're total dicks. I have 5 fish now so I'm maxed.

Beatiful reef fish and they swim a lot so they're a great addition. But dicks [emoji4]

[emoji23] I love this!! You totally just nailed it! They're being picked up Saturday and I was pretty clear about the larger one, he only picks on things smaller than him (except for my hand) so yeah definitely a Bully... Pretty fish, I've had them since 2016 so they're pretty set in their ways. The smaller one is really timid and always hangs in the back waiting to be fed. I had a Yellow Tang that would keep the larger in check but I moved the Tang to a different tank then the Damsel really got really good at bullying smaller things.

  21.

I finally found a mate for my female Wyoming White Clownfish who's been living as the lone Clown for a while now in one of my tanks, I've been going back and forth between a few types of Clowns but finally decided on a Mocha Storm Clown. My daughter and I stopped at Paradise Coral to buy fish food and they had the perfect little Clowns, we almost immediately picked out this little guy and brought him home, we put him through Safety Stop and put him in my tank. I was a bit worried at first that my female wouldn't care for him but she immediately went to greet him and they've been inseparable living in their Toadstools since [emoji16] sorry the pictures aren't the best, some corals are mad still, I had just moved around some of my rocks and corals to remove a Damsel that was trying to bully the new fish so it and the other Damsel was banished to my sump until they can go to a new homeIMG_20200412_144157518.jpg54c4de6a35c6af33d98f3827cd4b8ac8.jpg

  22. I have a pair of Azure Damsels, or Yellow Bellied Damsels that need a new home FREE. I'm hoping to have something lined up for next weekend, I'm located in the forest Grove area but I'm sure I could meet possibly in Hillsboro OR POSSIBLY Beaverton if I'm in the area. Full disclosure: the larger Damsel can be a bully to fish smaller than him! (Surprise Surprise right?) He's about ~2 inches long, if you have fish larger than him he will be absolutely fine, but he tends to try to bully tiny fish. He tends to stay in one area of the tank and can be territorial only towards very small fish, I've decided to re-home them both together because they're a pair and mostly because he started trying to bully my new little Storm Clown. If no takers he's going to a LFS or I'm posting on Craigslist free which I hate doing but right now they're in my sump and I don't want to leave them in there for too long. ace1b6dfc538982c389da2e4e5fd2a46.jpg95662485089d12c99f9750ea2fdf1ae9.jpg
