  1. I had a heater fail today and really hate to pay the retail price for a new one, so looking for something around 200-300 watts, also picked up a wavemaker controller today only to find out that one of the power heads doesn't like being stopped and started, so I would like to pick up a couple of matched power heads if possible. I live in Salem, I have some corals and frags to trade or cash if necessary. Thanks.

    Legs

Yea, that's what I was thinking too. I've sent an email to AI, maybe they cam send me a set of legs.

  2. Wow! That's quite a bit of weight for a slide out, I hope you put jack stands under it.

Is that a Montana? The cabinets look just like my in laws Montana.

Yes we reinforced the floor and used foundation jacks under the slide...shouldn't go anywhere. Its a 37 ft Heartland Gateway.

  3. Only a "reefer" would understand....sitting excitedly in front of a 1/2 filled tank, waiting for RO at 1am. At any rate,we picked up a 75 gallon setup today to replace our two 29g Biocubes. Will post more pics soon.

  4. We just set up a new/used tank, and it came with A LOT of green, candy cane coral. Pieces are either $5 or $10. Plus, we may have extra live rock here in the next hour. Needs to go ASAP, preferably tonight. Hate to see it go to waste! Corals are in a bucket, please hurry!

    We are in west Salem.

First come, first serve. Sorry, can't hold.

  5. That is going to be a sweet set up. Just about the size I am after but not the price :D Post up some pics when it shows.

I might have a Biocube in the near future. We are considering consildating our two 29 Biocubes into one larger tank.

  6. We are thinking about combining our two biocubes into one larger tank, in an effort to simplify things. The area we are thinking about putting a larger tank would accomdate about 48"x18". Since we dont really have much of area to build a stand or design a sump/plumbing, a "plug and play" system would be preferred. If anybody has something that, we would like to, hear from you. Once the switch is complete, we would have two 29g biocubes for sale, or maybe we could work a trade...ya never know. Thanks.

  7. We are setting a 14g Q-tank and are looking for some nice looking live rock (tank will visible at all times). Im thinking somewhere around 20lbs. We are in Salem, but will be running errands up towards Wilsonville today, so could easily make it to the big city if need be. Thanks

  8. Nitrates are the bi product of Nitrites, broken down from ammonia therefore my first guess is you have too much of a bioload or your over feeding the tank. The quickest way to eliminate them is with a 40% Water change, yet that will only put a bandage on the root of the issue, figuring out where they are coming from is key.

    - First off what exactly are you using for a filtration system?

    - How Old is this Tank? What Size is the Tank?

    - How Many Fish are in the Tank?

    - How Often do you feed the Fish?

    - What do you have in the way of a cleanup crew?

I would address the issue first by doing the water change, From there I would then cut my feeding down to half <- Unfortunately this is the best advice I can give you right now without knowing the answers to the above questions as those would most likely give me a better information to help you diagnose the issue.

Also one last thing, Did you completely finish out the Cycle on the new tanks?

We have two 29 Gal. Biocubes which are about 2 months old and were cycled using about 30lbs LR and 20lbs Live sand, and used "Stability" to aid in the cycle.

Tank 1: Older style cube, using Biocube filter cartridge and a DIY media rack with Chemipure and Carbon.  Stocked with several assorted SPS and LPS corals, 1 sm Yellow Tang, 1 Damsel, 1 Starry Blenny, and 2 sm Percula Clowns with Lg Rainbow Anemone.  Clean up crew consists of a few Hermits,Turbo snails.  Nitrates= 80+ppm

Tank 2: New Biocube, using Biocube filter cartridge and Bioballs.  Stocked with a few LPS corals, and several softies like Toadstool, Xenia and Mushrooms as well as 2 Picasso Clowns with 2 sm RBTAs,  1 Diamond Goby, 1 Lawnmower Blenny and a Potters Wrasse. We feed both tanks every other day with a small amount of LRS Reef Frenzy. Nitrates=40ppm

Both Nitrate levels are the highest they have been since we started them.  PH is 8.0, Ammonia is 0, Nitrites is 0.  We have been doing 30% water changes every week with RODI water and "Reef Crystal" Salt.

  9. Well, after 3 weeks of weekly water changes with RO water, we still have high nitrates in both tanks. We have recently added som macro to both sumps as well. Any advice on where we should go next?
