    LED's

I think its time I upgrade. I met up with a fellow member today for a frag and saw what LED's did for his tank.... and wow. What are some decent entry level led systems to buy? The tank it would be going on is a 40g breeder with very few stony corals (hoping to get more) some nems and zoas. Maybe someone has a setup they are looking to sell off? Just trying to figure out what the best route is for me, seeing as everything we're going to run are fairly shallow tanks I would think LEDs would be a good choice. Low heat output, cheaper electricity bill, longer lasting... but the cost for a high end LED system makes my head hurt.

Here's the 180g predator tank Currently buffing the acrylic out, won't have water in it for a few weeks most likely
  4. Ive made freshwater stingray tanks out of plywood and fiberglass. 10'x3' only a foot and a half tall
  5. I waited 3 days before putting water back to it, Its been doing awesome since then. Unfortunately for me, my gf wants to upgrade to a larger tank so as soon as we source one, this 40g will be up for sale

his yolk is about 1/4" From what I've read, he could potentially "hatch" at any point. It been getting a little too snug lately

    The tanks

I started off my saltwater journey growing up in Hawaii with a tank I kept with a friend at his house. We had no idea what we were doing at the time, just grabbing fish out of the ocean and putting them in aquarium.... We collected candy cane shrimp, cowries, yellow and naso tangs, anything we could get our hands on (usually releasing them within a couple days) Now i'm all grown up (sorta) and my last tank was a 29g which has been sitting in storage for the past few years. Fiance thought it would be a fun project to have in the house again so we started it up. Now.... it isnt big enough so as of 2 days ago its a 40g... and no one is ever happy so if we find a screamin deal on something bigger...... I have my new tank which is a truvu 180g oak stand 40g sump ASM G3 skimmer with a sedra 9000 pump T-8 Lighting (not going to be growing tons of corals in it)
  16. would also be willing to frag out some of my super green zoa's
  17. looking for some cheap (perferably free) starter frags to see how my system is doing close to the longview/kelso/woodland area. would be willing to drive to vancouver if you have somthing cool
  18. the tank didnt have any leaks before, but I didnt like how the seal was looking on the inside so i moved it all to a smaller tank. I was thinkinig if I sealed it all up right now and have it back together by tomorrow night i's be ok as I wont be able to touch the tank for about 4 days after tomorrow
  19. tank is not danger but I need some quick results so I can get my livestock back in the right tank. My 40g has no silcone on the inside corners. I scraped them out to reseal it but I need to do it quick because everything is in a cramped smaller tank and I'm worried about the bio load as well as the territorial issues that I already had. Any one know of some 24hr or less cure silicone that i can pick up at a local store? home deopt, lowes, walmart etc?
  20. thats actually a nem we got while out tide-pooling in the puget sound. Got him on a 48hr drip and temp change before adding him to the tank. I figured they usually spend some time out of the water when the tide goes out so they are fairly hardy. He split himself about a month in and both have been doing great!
