    Sump help

You would be right garret. I ment the loc-line. I'm going to split the two already in the tank into 4 so that I have a bit more control with the flow, And to eliminate the powerheads in the tank now. But this is where it gets confusing for me. I'm looking for about 35 times the flow rate with in the tank itself. So if you guys have seen a jbj cube with stand, and The sump being in the bottom portion of the stand, which will have to modified(stand). What size pump should I look into. Should I have one or two over flows which will be drilled into the back sump portion of the Jbj 28 gal tank HTC EVO

    Sump help

Ok so I'm going to add A sump to.my jbj 28 gal. The return pump is going directly to the powerhead in the tank which will be split by loc-line into 4 nozzles for more spread flow. Ne ways this is what I've got planned so far for the sump This is the side of the tank This is the 4x4x10 media section. This is the layout from the top of the tank. Opinions or adjustments you'd make helps. I'm worried about micro bubbles getting to my return. Help in that area to? HTC EVO
  3. Try a diy ato. Or get a better skimmer. If you going to look into the actual biocube skimmer your going to want to mod it. And It's just as touchy to water levels as the tunze. I've been looking into the red sea Berlin lift 60 or 90. 3.5" in diameter. 16 inches tall. With a tetra deep water pump. Seems like a good combo. Look it up on YouTube. HTC EVO
  4. Where you live I'm interested on it. And you say pest. Your referring to the monti etc. HTC EVO
  5. How big is the live rock? HTC EVO
  6. If you have a cell download tapatalk. You can do everything, including pics HTC EVO
  7. Ok so my ? Is regarding airstones. I want to junk the woodstone. But what's a good replacement. My buddy said look for glass, or ceramic. But I can't find anything online. Or that would fit. I guess a 2" up 2.5" is the biggest I'd want to go. Anyone have a suggestion HTC EVO
  8. Oh I also got these today I think its worth the price. These will replace the jbj baffle sponge. I cut them in half so I get 6 of them instead of 3. The were 5 bucks for a pack of 3. Cut in half its 6 for 5 bucks. It's a finer sponge. I get no micro bubbles at all. And I don't have to pay for shipping and the wait. So all pros in my book HTC EVO
  9. As I said I'd update with picks today. Wife wouldn't let me pour it in a cup. Blah Blah Blah. But the water was teaish green, with lots of bubbles. I'm not sure if that's good Or bad? HTC EVO
  10. Lol that's funny. Sounds like he's dealing with dinoflagellate. Like I just was HTC EVO
  11. This was after 5 minutes of starting it up, and playing with the air valve to get the Suds to go to the edge of the collection cup. HTC EVO
  12. That's crazy looking. I'd say sponge but then it doesn't look like any I've seen. The only similarity is the color HTC EVO
  13. Ok so I put this in the general dis. Due to the fact that its not an outrageous mod. Lol. And is a general to nano tankers. Ok due to not having enough funds for a nice skimmer. I bought an oceanic protein skimmer. So its not completely worthless in my books. I did an alright job. So I decided to mod it a bit. I went and got a top fin syphon, and cut about 5 inches off of it. I then cut the openings just before the wood stone open more to allow it to pull more water. Now I put it back together I'm thinking ill probably cut about 1.5" off tomorrow. But so far the contact between the water and bubbles has increased dramatically. And it foaming far more at the top then it ever has. In my opinion it was worth the 5 minutes of work. 10 bucks compared to the 30 they wanted for an acrylic tube that was 12 inches long...... I'll take a pic of the after math tomorrow. HTC EVO
  14. No way seriously? I know what ya mean, I haven't heard or seen to many reef guys in this area other than two of my buddys. HTC EVO
  15. Yeah I know I need bigger and better coral but I do have these And My pink finger coral or something like that Sponge Nothing special, and really hardy polyps, and little coral, but they were hitch hikers. And I practice taking care of them. I'm also trying to get a bigger media basket. And get a hob skimmer. Then once I get those I'll feel comfortable in getting some better coral. I'm going to get a 150w double ended pheniox 14,000k bulb. And I have about 40 times the flow rate in the tank, until I can afford my mp10es. HTC EVO
  16. Ok so I dumped 2x 250gph powerhead in the tank. Alternated my return pumps to.every 10 sec. Replace my filters every two days. Skimmer is still running wet. Gota clean it today. Before After Right side Left side So I've got some stuff that is building up in to.place should make syphoning easier HTC EVO
  17. I'm lookin to buy a hob skimmer for my jbj 28gal. or if some one is tearing a nano tank down and has a tunze 9002 that would be cool. HTC EVO
  18. Yeah got bored really fast with fresh, my f8 I had was pretty cool. It was interesting to do the change. But then I saw a buddies sw tank. And had to have one. Had to HTC EVO
  19. I'm still battling my dinoflagellate. Have been for about a week. Added extra flow, turned all lights off for 4 days, on the forth day I cleaned the back sump, cleaned return pumps, took all my rock out scrubbed it. The ones with coral I took a soft basting brush to. Next Ill have to siphon my sand. But I haven't seen a lot of it come back, any that noticed I powerheaded it, and sucked it up with my turkey baster. With good flow it makes it hard for the dinoflagellate to grow, unless you have an abundance of nutrients in your water, Phosphates. What process are you using to rid yourself of this stuff? HTC EVO
  20. What's your rock look like? HTC EVO
  21. I guess I'm confused. Double post means that the post was already posted? HTC EVO
  22. I've been looking all over the forum. But I haven't seen anything dedicated to nano tank builds. Not sure if its been suggested. But I think it would be cool to see how many nano builders in the nw area. HTC EVO
  23. Ok so I'm trying to save the money up for a mp10.... In the mean time, does anyone have a suggestion on how to get good turbulent flow inside the display, I tried running both returns, but had to top off to much, and temp rose 3 degrees. And it wasn't allow enough dwell time for the skimmer to really get anything. I have two 250gph powerheads. But finding a good location for them is proving difficult. I don't want the blasting directly on the coral when I get them in there. Help a noob. Suggestions would me great guys. HTC EVO
  24. Well I'm about 4 month into the reef tanking, I did some low maintenance fresh water for about two years, had a brackish setup for a year, with a f8 puffer that I saved from Walmart.......But met his doom to another Walmart spotted puffer that I'm assuming had some form of ich..... And moved on to sw.... Went for the all in one tank. Jbj 28gal hqi I have a very small pink finger polyps. Very small And some other hitch hiker button polyps They have gone from 7 polyps to about 35.... But can't seem to have the heart to give them away. Or ditch them. Soo......problem though....... I'm battling dinoflagellates. So I'm planning an all out war. Taking rock out, and scrubbing them. Re-aquascaping. Scrubbing the heck out of the back sump. And cleaning pumps. And setting up a regular cleaning time for the back. Ya live you learn. Lol. But that's about it. HTC EVO
