  1. I got a 48 inch Tek T5 6 bulb (ATIs currently) on trade a couple of weeks ago (thanks powderblue) but the tank it was for isn't going to work out. He did mention that the center section didn't fire a couple of time so it comes with a spare ballast.

That being said after playing with the light I want to give T5s a go on my 24 inch cube. Anybody want to trade? Looking for a decent fixture 4 bulb minimum preferably 6.

If it's something nice a can throw a few bucks at it.

  2. Time to upgrade the skimmer on the frag tank so I have to clean out the closet. If you have a skimmer rated for like 100 gallons with a small footprint (curve 5 would be great) and I'm always interested in coral.

Jabao dosing pump I bought it like a year ago but never plugged it in. -$50

Reef octopus bio churn INT-120 this is still running on the tank, I have been reducing the pellets weekly but I may need one or two more weeks. I'll throw in about 150 ml of pellets. -$80

  3. I thought it would be good to warn you, rather than say never use root killer.

Some people out there do things recklessly.

Much appreciated! Carbon dosing means I can just spill some gin and tonic in the tank right?!? Haha. People definitely do some crazy things.

  4. Wait, wait, wait! From my understanding root killer is Copper Nitrate or Cu(II)NO3. If the stuff you buy looks blue, stay away!!! Copper is deadly to almost all lifeforms.

Just read the ingredients. It would tell you.

Yeah they claim it's 100% potassium nitrate. There is tons of info on R2R. It seems like people really have success with it there.

  5. I have been running bio pellets for about a year and a half, most of the time I love them.

Historically my tank had maintained 2-3 ppm nitrate (salifert) and phosphate at about 0.05 (Hanna). About two month ago I noticed everything going pale on me, also tons of cyano. I tested, Nitrate 0 phosphate 0.

I increased feeding added a fish or 2 and started dosing amino. 2 months later still testing 0, color is better but nowhere near what it used to be.

I was reading that some people have had great luck with dosing potassium nitrate using Spectracide Stump Remover. Has anybody here tried this or something similar? I know I should probably consider pulling the pellets but I hate doing water changes!!!!!!

    Thanks!

  6. Thanks for the input! Sounds like ATI is probably the direction to go. Any suggestions on bulb combos. I like a blue look.

    I was thinking

    3 blue plus

    1 purple plus

    1 true actinic

    1 coral plus

  7. I just bought a nuvo 30L off of Powder blue (thanks for the great deal!). The plan is to use it as a frag tank with a little bit of everything in it(zoas, lps, and sps). Since I have been in the hobby it's been nothing but LEDs for me, that being said I wanted to try something new. Some of the nicest tanks I have seen are running with t5s specifically ATI fixtures and bulbs.

My question is are the fixtures worth paying 2x compared to other T5 fixtures?

My other question is would a 6 bulb ATI setup be overkill for a tank that size. I could buy a 4 bulb fixture but for 100 bucks more I 6 would be better for "if" I upgrade.

    Thanks for any input!!

  8. So im looking for a new tank but want to be pretty specific. I have a feeling that nobody has it sitting in the garage but it never hurts to ask.

    glass

    rimless

dimensions 48x24X18 the height negotiable just taller than 12 inches and less than 24.

let me know what you have and what you want for it! im in no hurry so if your planning to get rid of something in the near future that may work

    thanks!!!!!
