  1. (laugh) this is a funny thread. Congrats Darice on killing the green star polyp (clap) (clap) That is a really difficult thing to do. If you can figure out what you did, reefers would be lining up to your house to get your trade secret... If it makes you feel better , the pink star polyps died at the Pioneer school tank..

Oh and for the record the xenia died off in the Pioneer school tank too.. I don't think Xenia likes the water temperature too cold.

The Kenya tree is thriving though. If you ever kill Kenya tree that's when you should feel badly... (laugh)

If I ever do kill a Xenia or Kenya Tree I'll be to embarrassed to fess up. I'm afraid I'm going to get a bad rep. :D

  2. Wow' date=' I just scrubbed mine up with a toothbrush to remove a small patch of algae and it only closed up for a day. Need a small frag of toothbrush-proof GSP?[/quote']

I'd love one. If you can tell me how to do it I'll frag a piece of frogspawn ,which is obviously very hardy .

  3. When I had a solana I ran a sapphire aquatics skimmer. That thing ROCKED for it size and was very quiet. I'll second the advice to ditch the ATO bottles and run a proper switch with a remote ATO reservoir. I use the same switch as Grassi with no problems at all.

Sounds like they were great little skimmers but they don't make them anymore . Bummer.

  4. Hi there

I'm finally to the point of setting up my Solana. I've had sand in it for a month with some live rock and a hang on the side filter to clear things up. My foam background is ready and I'm planning on taking out 3/4 of the water to silicone the background onto the tank. I tried out the custom skimmer and the pump was rather noisy. Any good tips on setting it up. I'm putting live rock rubble in the middle chamber and bought filter floss for the intake chamber. The ATO bottles did not come with the tank. Any ideas other than a float switch at this point?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. If its on the web cam its a Bamboo plant sitting on the ledge next to the tank, Not sure in the pictures but no Seaweed in the tank

That's too funny. No wonder I was confused. I'd never seen such a pretty seaweed before ;)
