  1. Yeah all for fish its called. Its a nice place. Its big has two levels etc and the guy and his wife who own/run it are nice.
  2. There is no code that states you must have a window or a door in your garage. That isnt considered livable space. its also more expensive if you do have a man door and/or a window to insure due to the obvious fact that it gives thiefs a means to get in etc. Anyways there is no code. Hope that helps
  3. Yes I couldnt agree more with John. I went to garretts shop last night and asked him soo many questions. Very knowledgeable and will take the time to make sure you understand the answer to your question. Its very easy to tell Garrett loves what he does there all of his stuff is amazing and the prices, well you cant beat the prices. I look forward to many trips over there and lots more time just talking reef. was a great time and my wife and I learned tons. Anyways thanks again for everything and I will let you know how the drilling of my tank goes. Cory and Charlotte
  4. Thank you all so much for your opinions. I guess MH it is. Now to find one thats not to expensive. Thanks again.
  5. Turning your tank over 8x is different than the 35x 60x etc that you all speak of. I think your confusing filtration with circulation. I think he meant he is turning his tank over 8xph which is plenty from what I have read and hear. but circulation wise yes it should be much higher.
  6. First off I would like to say how great and Helpful garrett in Salem is. I met him last night and saw his "garage" and wow. I feel very fortunate to have someone with that kind of knowledge and that helpful that lives 20 minutes away. Now to my question. I have a 60 gallon tank that I just started and im really struggling with what type of lighting to get. I want all types of corals, clams etc and I plan to be in this hobby for sometime. I dont have an unlimited amount of money but im the type of person that I will wait till i can afford to pay for something nice or I just wont do it at all. So what do I get? T5 are nice but looking at them next to a tank with MH makes them look dull etc. So do I get LED? are they as good as MH without having to win the lottery to afford them? MH are so nice but theyre expensive. They use alot of energy and have to be replaced annually where LED are very very effeciaent and to my knowledge they dont have to be replaced ever. But im still not certain if there trully a player in the fish tank industry yet. Anyways just wanted to bounce that off of you all and see what your feelings are about lighting and if you were essentially starting from scratch with a 60 gallon what type of lighting would you go with. Thanks in advance Cory P.S. My tank is in my theater which is in my daylight basement so it stays fairly cool down there year round. has anyone had MH on a 60g without having to use a chiller?
  7. Thanks for all your help everyone. I have a venturi on my inlet from the sump that is supposed to increase circulation or velocity by 400% essentially making it 2000 gph and it is definitely blowing sand everywhere so I went to take it off and discovered a new problem. My pump is now pumping more volume at a lower velocity and its pumpimg more water in than my overflow is letting out. Its a very small HOB overflow box with a piece of 3/4 inch pvc in it. Im thinking of getting a bigger box with atleast a 1 1/4" outlet in the bottom of it. Thanks for all your guys help.
  8. Well Im getting T5 36" lighting with themoonlight leds so I think coral wise I will be limited to softies I think?
  9. My sump is about 20 gallons or so and No I dont have any additional pumps at this time. But I will get whatever is neccesary etc just wonding what direction to go etc . thanks in advance.
  10. Im looking for some sort of retro that someone has possibly made that I can have at least 36w with half being atenic lights in it so I could have some sofity corals etc. Plz let me know. thanks Cory
  11. I have a new 60 gallon acrylic tank that is currently being cycled. I bought some very nice LR 75 lbs or so and 60 lbs of LS and three damsels which have suprisingly made it thus far. I think the nitrates are on the way down. Anyways my question/concern is that I have a 500 gph pump in my sump and a HOB overflow. I am wondering if filtering that much water in a 60 gallon (4ft) is enough. I know theres a difference between filtration and circulation but just wondering if 500 gph is enough, also I drilled in a bulkhead and put a venturi type inlet on the back of my tank that is supposed to increase circ by 400% but its blowing my sand all over my nice coral. So I dont know what ot do. also curious how much circulation I should have in my tank if I want some softies etc I plan on getting coralife 36" T5 lights with moonlights. Any help would be Sooooo appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cory
