  1. I'm REALLY leaning towards CF. The CF and the T5 have moonlights.
  2. OK, last real option. A 150watt JBJ Viper MH. I have no idea how much heat those things put out?
  3. I found a 4 bulb t5 fixture for $75... 4x24. And the bulbs on ebay for the CF are 4 for $35 shipped, so a total of $22.50 to change bulbs. I don't need crazy amounts of light, and I'm trying to do everything on a budget. If there was a good enough place to buy t5 from for something similar, I would go for it.
  4. Aren't t5's a thing of the past already? LOL! I figured that that is the reason why I can't find the bulbs for a reasonable price.
  5. AND I live right by a facility that takes spent bulbs free to recycle.
  6. I'm so torn. The bulbs in the t5 are a bit harder to find... they're the 18watt ones that go in a 20" fixture. The PC lights are always available. and less than half the price.
  7. That's really my second biggest concern. I'm finding that the MH bulb is about $50, the t5 fixture is going to be steep, too, since those are a rarer size at this point... looking at $15 a piece, so $60. The single bulb 96 watt is about $30, and the 2x65 is about $25. Leaning towards the 24" 2x65watt CFL light with separate controls/wires. I'm guessing I can hack probably at least and inch, maybe two off the housing anyway.
  8. I feel like the MH is the one I can rule out. I just found a 4x18w t5 ho that's only $60...
  9. OR, I could do a 2x65watt CFL fixture, too... But it's about 4" wider than the tank, so it won't look as sleek. LOL! This option is only about $85 with bulbs. Both the others come in right at $125.
  10. I'm upgrading lights, and am on about a $125 budget for it. I can get a 70 watt MH pendant, plug and play, or I can do a plug and play 96watt CFL light... What are your thoughts? It's a 10 gallon rock wall, no SPS. It's all softies and LPS. Also, as far as spectrum on the MH, I have been thinking 14k... Thanks everyone!
  11. Freakin cool! I applaud this! Just hope we don't all get enslaved and taken over by urchins!
  12. Share the love! I'm actually in Kennewick, but would be happy to pay for your time and shipping if my post gets picked and you would do that... Simple ground would be here next day! I'll be traveling through your area, but not until early March. If you want someone to pick it up, please just disregard me! I just thought I'd throw my hat in there for these awfully nice shrooms if you'd be willing to bag it and take it to the UPS store...
  13. Just to report back, even with not being able to find anything bigger than a fingernail clipping size of this anemone to remove from the tank (it obviously got totally shredded/diced) my ammonia topped out at about .5ppm, with no negative effects so far on anything else, and is now dropping. I did about a 25% water change daily at lunch for 3 days, and about 15 ammonia tests to keep an eye on it, and this appears to have worked. Thanks, newfisher, for the advice. Many people have told me my tank had been nuked, but that was clearly not true. Staying on top of it works, even when there is nothing left to remove (worst case scenario, I'd say).
  14. Subscribed! That looks very nice!
  15. WHEW! So this may not be as bad as some make it out to be... I'm headed home for lunch and a water change right now!
  16. Hey everyone, I'm just mildly freaking out right now. Two nights ago, I had a small (half-dollar sized) rose bubble (sad) get sucked into a powerhead somehow... It appears to have been absolutely shredded, as I can only find a couple small chunks. I have a little bit of ammonia going right now, about .25-.5ppm, but am keeping on top of it with water changes, fresh carbon, etc... I acutally think my skimmer took a good amount of it out of the water column, but... the spike is happening. My questions is, how long do you think I have to worry about it? 10gallon reef, rock wall type. Doing 2.5 gallon changes at least once daily. Should I do more? All my other livestock seems to be doing fine right now... Open and alive. Other tank params are "normal": SG 1.0245, 450ppm Calcium, ph 8.1, kH of 12, Nitrates and nitrites about zero... Please console me, lol! (scary)
  17. awesome. ill still take them if we can meet monday? and if you have zoas left from the pic you sent, id go for those too.
  18. I assume you sold the frogspawn to someone else? merry christmas!
  19. im not sure my pm worked...im interested in the zoas left. ill be passing thru portland at noon on monday... could you meet at rose city aquariums at that time? if so, I ill take them! pm me and lets try to set something up!
  20. Hey Moovinfast, I really appreciate that! We'll defintely have to make sure our paths cross before too long- I always enjoy meeting other hobbyists. I talked my wife into stopping at Rose City on the way home, hooray! It helps that the Hopworks Brewry is basically across the street. Good for a bite and a beer. I ought to be there sometime around noon on Monday! Thanks again, everyone, for the greetings and pointers. We're off to Seaside (where I will be spending a lot of time on the forums here, hahahahaha).
  21. Thanks everyone! ReefSafari, we don't have really anything for choices. 2 Petco stores and a place called Aquatropics... It's overpriced and rarely has much good stuff in. I'd rather do an internet order, to be honest. I wish a few more places were open Mondays in Portland, as we will be on our way back through from Seaside on Monday the 27th and I've been given the OK to stop somwehere...
  22. Hey! I'm new to PNWMAS but love it here! Not new to reefing, but took an 18month break and just recently got back into it. I used to have a 55 reef, but have since downsized to a 5.5 nano. As much as I love it, and as short as it's been up and running (since end of October), I'm building a 10 gallong rock wall to have a little more room. I promised the wife I'd keep it small this time... HAHA! (wife) Anyway, looking forward to meeting some of you for trading and purchases, and I certainly hope everyone has a great Holiday! I attached a front view and side view of the 5.5, and the mock-up of the 10. (whistle) Sorry for the not-so-great phone pictures!
  23. Hey! I'm going to be passing through, when were you looking to sell these? I'd like to pick them up on my way back from Seaside on Monday the 27th (I live in the Tri-Cities). Would love to get a frogspawn from you, and probably the hammer, along with some zoo frags, depending on what ones they are? Sorry for the low post count, too, I've been lurking... PM me and maybe we can meet somewhere along the route home?
