so its 24 hours cents the the heater blow up. i have lost a few more of my beloved corals but it looks like my clam may pull through. it is know oping up about half way and reacts to me waving my hand over the light.but all of my anemones and corals for the most part are closed up still hope there start looking better here soon.
-
but when i touch it it closes for a few minutes, then slowly reopens. i hope it pulls through i have had this clam for five years lol

Moto has a [language filter] good point, if you keep throwing ice cubes in there, your salinity is going to go to hell man....
Also, how old is your tank?
my tank has been up and running for about 6 months. but the heater is only a week old! lol

ya i just moved some of my corals and clam to my other tank. so as of right know my temp is back down to about 82. ya i will call one first thing in the morning.
-
so my heater in my tank exploded a few hours ago causing my tanks water temp to go from 78 to almost 90 in just a few minutes. so as of right know i have lost my beloved copper banded butterfly fish, long nose butterfly fish and my green mandarin. so i tossed some ice cubes in the sump to bring down the temp some and that is working out nicely. so everything else in the tank is looking all right but very unhappy. i put some more carbon in the sump and did a 10% water change. but my big concern is my clam. he is wide open but its mantel is all suck in. do you think he will be ok? all the coral are just slimming up allot and all shriveled up. do you know of anything i can do to help everyone out? but i think i have found what has been shocking me(sad)

ok i will look into getting a GFCI outlet. ok calling somone.
-
no i dont have a GFCI outlet. should i get one?
-
ya i think i am going to ask my land lord to look into it.

Ok I have a big problem of excess electricity in my 40b reef tank. I have tried everything I can think of. I have all new pumps, heaters, filters and lights everything in the tank is new. but I still get shock every time I put my hand in my tank. But there is one thing I don’t understand when I hook up my ground probe the shock get more pain full!!! I was told I may have a bad ground in my house. So does anyone have an idea how I can fix or find out what is shocking me? I believe that’s why I am having ick problems with my fish.

it is a 18 watt Turbo-Twist UV Sterilizers. just cam out of the box a month ago. high ans low on temp is 76F-80F
-
ok i always forget to check alkalinity. it is a little high sitting at about 10. how can i drop it? will that stress the fish?
-
ya i would love to pull the fish out and put them in a quarantine tank but i live in a very small apartment lol with no room for a quarantine tank .
-
PH 8.3
Temp 80F
Salinity 1.026
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Cal 500
Ammonia 0
so i just found that my cal was high could that stress the fish?

ok so i have been fighting with ich in my reef tank for about two months know. i have not lost any fish but i can tell its starting to take a toll on them. i have done lots of stuff in hope i would help but so far no signs of recovery.
so as of know this is what i have tried. i am running a UV sanitizer. i feed garlic to them daily plus i have two cleaner shrimp and a neon goby. the tank is a 40b mix reef tank with perfect water. do you have any idea what i can do to rid my tank of the ich?
