  1. I have a Reef Octopus HOB BH-1000. I broke the pump volute cover and impeller during the last cleaning maintenance; I ordered and received the NEW parts from coralvue. Been in use for 1 year and is fantastic. With new parts it's restored to new working condition. The only thing "used" about it is coralline algae that formed in the main chamber. Asking $140 OBO Will trade or partial trade for a tank and or stand that's clean and ready to go. Also interested in freshwater plant LED lights. No acrylic or drilled tanks. For a freshwater application. I'm interested in anything from 20-90 gallons. Thanks!

  12. We will be moving from the rockwood area to the Gresham area. That's so nice of you to offer, I feel humbled. Thankfully I have a truck to load a cooler of rock, and a few buckets of water.
  13. I'm so sorry to disappoint everyone. After arranging for people to pick up some stuff, I became emotionally overwhelmed and told my husband "but I don't want to sell my sea creatures" and he said "well I don't want you to either". So there you have it. We going to try and make it work. Thanks pledosophy for advocating for me. I don't want to loose my foot in the hobby. Even though I know my tank is mediocre, the important part is that I'm happy and proud of it. To me it's priceless. I also like the excuse going to meetings to meet nice people like yourself. I'll probably start a thread about to get advice about moving it. Also, we got our offer accepted on the house last night! We have less thank 30 days to close! Wahoo!
  14. Hello everyone! I need to sell my 28 nano cube. My husband and I are buying our first home. There are no faucet attachments for my RO and we need to keep things simple for the first few months. Moving the tank scares me and I don't want to kill my poor little sea creatures. I really do love this tank. All in all i've spent exactly $909 on the tank, all the equipment, livestock, and supplements. I would like to see if anyone would like to purchase the tank as a package, but will probably sell livestock and then equipment thereafter. 15. Awwww man! The biggest and best reef tank we've all known. I'm glad I was able to make it over this year, it was well worth the drive. Good luck on your future endeavors!
  16. Ahh! Thank you pledosophy! It's so much easier getting a straight up answer instead of scouring google with an ambiguous question. I keep calupra in my tank with the corals. It's a 28 nano cube with a RO HOB (Hood removed and LEDs added). It grows like nuts for a few months, then I rip it all out, cash in about 20 bucks store credit at my LFS, and let the leftover roots repeat the process. I've been doing this for the last year. Keeping calupra is in theory my one-two punch for keeping nitrates in check; I've never had a problem. But I can make it a one-two-three punch by adding vodka. I love it (clap)
  17. Hmm alright. How do you dose it? I sounds like a really easy way to provide carbon, and it's really accessible (innocent) . I was under the impression that (basically) nitrosomonas and nitrobacter "process" ammonia and nitrite, but the end result, nitrate, is the inevitable source that can only be removed manually or by skimming the waste that would be converted to nitrate, or just having a TON of macro algae. Is there really a bacteria that processes nitrate? If so, tell me more!
  18. Not my first time seeing it used, but what is the vodka for?
  19. Have you called a number yet? Or do you just have so much love love love!
  20. I called INTEX customer service and they said my model has no copper. yahoo!
  21. Hello everyone! I created a new thread that will hopefully be easier for everyone to know my story, and perhaps help me with my needs. I found out recently that my school has extra plexi tanks that I can use for my project. Apparently 8 tanks were donated to the program a couple years back that have been sitting in storage. They all have PVC hookups already! I attached photos of the tanks. I still need help! As you can see in the pictures, they have two PVC holes, one bigger than the other. Which one should be my in-flow and out-flow? I have a pool pump that was given to me by another student, now all I have to figure out is how I am going to hook them all together. So, with tanks out of the way, I need PVC of all sizes along with PVC connectors that connect to other sizes. like 1" to 3/4", 1" to 1 1/4", ect. I also really need power heads and pumps to aid circulation. I feel i'm almost there! just a little bit more! About the crayfish: They are fairly simple water wise, they are very tolerable to low and high temperatures with proper acclimation. as for housing- I plan to use 1/4" chicken wire to make "crawdad corrals" in the tanks. Oregon Signal crayfish are generally aggressive towards others, so separation is necessary. One crayfish can be happy in a 10 gallon tank EASILY. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask!
