This is what fixed my SPS issue. 1 drop of iodine a week in my 50 gal and everything went back to normal.

That's the biggest thing that I found in my ICP test when things weren't going well.

  3. I’d definitely recommend an icp test. I agree with not running white, red, green. I’d also recommend a Bayer dip to be safe

How are your other corals doing? Are you running a skimmer? How’s your flow?

  4. At a bare minimum you’ll need stable parameters (I find alk is most critical here), lights that put out enough par (personally love having t5 + led), enough live rock (or enough bio blocks/spheres to aid), good flow (it doesn’t  have to be expensive, but be sure a cheaper pump isn’t pointing directly at things, and a good skimmer. If you have a smaller tank I’ve found the Bubble Magus modified with a DC pump is a great solution (I have this on my 65 now)

And for me, I always have some Green Birdsnest… it’s the canary in the coal mine, if it’s unhappy then I know something is wrong.

Be sure to wait until the cheaper stuff is thriving before adding the fancier/expensive stuff… I don’t know how much I’ve wasted not following this advice lol

  5. I’ve been using jabao for 6 years.. definitely have to keep an eye on parameters since I’ve had heads randomly stop (happens like once a year to one head between my two tanks), but it’s sooo much cheaper than the others out there. I’ll upgrade sone day, but if you’re on a budget or prefer to spend elsewhere a jabao will get the job done

  6. ok I’ve had a bunch of people over years ask me to let them know when I’m selling these, and like a jerk I didn’t keep track of it… so my apologies to the group

I’ve had the mother JB for 5 or 6 years now and originally picked her up from Legendary. This strain is truly special, it will occasionally throw out babies that develop large chunks of green within a couple months and often have red right away. I’ve now had 3 of them grow purple spots and one that even grew purple and dark orange (a 5 color JB). Strangely the OG mamma only has one tiny dot of green and us almost all red

And for fun, here’s the 5 color one and a new baby with a green wedge
