  9. I did it yestarday, I figured I may as well do no rather than later as I will be setting up a tank sooner or later LOL. I have a tank that I am gonna use lined up but will need a custom stand and am having my cousin make it for me and he is busy throughout the summer and said it may take him 6 months or more to finish it with all his other projects so that will give me more time to do research and save up for more equiptment.
  10. how long does it usually take to get your membership and the cool pnmas banner, I paid for a year membership evern tho I don't have a sw tank yet.
  11. I know that I have chloramines and used to use 1 prefilter and 2 carbon blocks on my ro/o when I was raising discus and breeding angles. but now that I want to get into saltwater I am concerned and want to know it I should get the better carbon blocks.
  12. For people in the portland area that have chloramines in your tap water do you use any special pre-filters? i was looking at BRS and they have ones that are supposed to be made for city water with chloramines. Anyone ever use these?
  13. Congrats.. Kids are great I have 2 boys.(cheer)(cheer)(cheer)(cheer)(cheer)(cheer)(cheer)
  14. I still have all the stuff listed on top will let all of it go for $350
  15. I already have a ro unit but will be getting a new membrane and pre- filters what I was wondering is if I really need a di unit on top of the r/o. Our water out in Gresham is pretty soft with a low tds outta tap anyway. Lat time I checked it was in the 60 ppm range. Can't check at the moment as I need to go get new batterys for my meter. So is di really needed?
  16. I have a garage full of stuff i would trade for the light, i have a ad in here.
  17. Well wanted to post and say i love the site, I have been keeping fresh water fish for about 10 years or so. Have wanted to go salt for a few years and thought now would be a good time since the kids are aboard. It may take me some time to actually get a tank running as the wife says I have to get all or most of the tanks in the garage gone before I can start my new project. I am looking to do a nice 75 or 90 display with sump and fuge to start with maybe a DSB and definatly some live rock to start. So I may not even have a tank for 6 or so months till garage gets cleared out and I have the time to make a nice oak stand canopy and such. So far just been reading and soaking up alot of good information and looking at others tanks and plumbing to get a idea of what I want to accomplish. Oh and I live here in Gresham.
  18. also willing to trade for things i will need to get a saltwater tank up and running. Skimmer, lighting pumps, live rock sand etc.
