  1. PM replied to. I have compact Flourecent. I just never looked at them to know the difference. I've been saying I have t5's since I got the tank. really feeling like a noob now. I've been mad that the bta wasn't staying open all the time and it was my fault. Glad you can take it. Talk to you tomorrow.
  2. So I was thinking of getting some new lights so I looked closer at my ballast and realized that I didn't have T5's like I thought (I blame this on being a Noob). The BTA is not looking very happy in my tank the past few days and I want to get him into a happy home soon. If you've got any corals to trade great otherwise if you can come up with $15 that would be nice too.

  4. From what I have read online the new 1050 gph is in between the two older models of K3 (850gph) and K4(1200 gph). I ordered 1 for now, figured at least one is better than what I've got in the tank right now and I will see where it takes me. If anyone has any experience with the new pumps I would love some insight on them. Again I have no powerhead in the tank right now so proper placement etc. would be helpful. I've been told by a lfs that it isn't neccessary to hook it up to a timer as well.
  5. yeah that one's not going to work for me... just the sticker shock alone... I'm sure it's a great pump but I need something a little more on the economy side. Thanks for the fast reply though.
  6. So I see that Hydor has come out with new pumps and wanted to know if anyone has had good or bad experience with them. I currently am not running anything in my tank other than my return pump that keeps a good current on one side of the tank and I know I need one for the otherside. So far everyone has been extremely helpful so I figured I'd give it a shot and see what everyone's opinions were on these pumps.
  7. I've been holding off saying anything because of course I feel the same way as every person here. I don't know frank but just reading his follow up comment to all of your outreach was amazing. I'm new to the forum (hence the name) and just realize that this world needs more people like frank. I didn't go to the meeting but I can't believe the outreach everyone has had on this. It makes me feel good that I found an impressive group to follow and soon to become a member of. I hope you find it soon.
  8. I picked it up on Thursday. It's doing great in my tank.
  9. I just bought a Bluejaw from SWF. They still have quite a few larger ones in stock. Pretty sure he had a pair in the tank as well. Just go see Patrick and he'll hook you up!
  10. I hadn't added an iodine supplement for a few weeks. Swf said the same thing. My own stupidity caused it from what it sounds like.. Sucks being new at something when you kill stuff...
  11. There was definate meat inside of it. I've seen the molt in the tank before and freaked out but this was definately not molt. The guys down at SWF hooked me up with some new shrimp. I know it was not neccessary but they are always cool to have in the tank. I really don't think the trigger did anything with it since it probably would have eaten it whole. Thanks you guys!
  12. So I bought a Bluejaw trigger last night and I don't know if it decided that my fire shrimp looked good enough to eat or if a rock fell over on it but I had to pull him out of the tank this morning (back was split but still attached). I'm in need of some sort of cleaner shrimp for my tank but I'd like to know what type of shrimp everyone would think would be alright for this fish. It was in it's little cave so I really don't think the fish could have done it but you never know. I don't think I'm ready to spend the money on another Fire Shrimp but I will get one again. Any ideas would be great and if you've got some for sale let me know. Would like to go get something this morning!
  13. Well the good news is the trigger looks great in my tank. The bad news is I just noticed that my Blood Shrimp was split in half over the night.... This Sucks. He was in his little den that he always stayed in. I can't really blame the trigger but it was an impressive co-incident that he's dead the same night I get the trigger. Not sure what shrimp I should get now to replace my little buddy.. And the fact that I need to do it before my son gets home from school or he's going to freak out that the shrimp died...lol
  14. Your pictures are showing me two things.. I either need a new camera, or I need to learn how to be patient and not rush the picture. lol Amazing fish though
  15. glad you could use it in your tank. I left to go pick up a fish today and when I got back the few pieces I got from you were moved somewhere in the tank by the snails... I should have done something with them but oh well..
  16. Just got one from Saltwater Fantaseas the one down at Rose City didn't look so hot. Great deal thanks for taking care of me fellas.. I've bought a few things from these guys so far and they haven't done me wrong once. Once I get it acclimated and setup I will post some pics. I've been waiting for a Trigger and now I've got one. I feel like a little kid again with a new toy.. Thanks again for all the posts. If it decides to start picking on my fish or inverts I will let you know.
  17. not sure if I need both of these but did you get any bites on them yet? I was looking more for a 2 or 3 but just wanted to see if you still had them.
  18. I noticed that Rose City Aquarium has one in stock so I think I might go down and check it out today. Maybe I can trade him my fish? never been down there before so we will see.. My Hippo is about 4" not sure what a fair trade value would be but I can't imagine that I could go wrong at a shop. I think the person that bought my tank originally was trying to build a Finding Nemo tank, and just didn't realize the size of the fish at the end of their growth to adult hood. I had a Koran Angel in here that I already sold off that was around 6-7". I just want these guys to have a good home. I'm not looking to overstock the tank with fish since my main goal is to have more reef than fish. The only worry I have is the clown and fire fish with the trigger. They were fine with the angel so I hope it won't be too bad as long as it's fed.
  19. and it's gone! Thanks again and I hope you have better luck in your tank than I did. It was just too nice of a piece to not share with.
  20. Sweet! Thanks you guys. The only other issue that I thought about is that I have a fire shrimp. Will it eat this guy? He's decent size and from what I hear they only live 2-3 years as it is (the shrimp).
  21. Well then I guess it is my fault because I've had it for about a month...lol. I was at the shop the other day and found out that he splits them once in awhile. Not sure if this one was done that way but I think I'm going to refrain from saying from where since I like the guys there...(whistle) But I will just keep offering it some food and see where it takes me. Thanks again
  22. So it ate this morning. first time in over a week. From what I understand it's ok to feed them once a week as they eat other stuff throughout the week from leftovers in the tank. I am leaning more and more towards getting rid of it though just for the fact that I don't have the funds for the proper lighting to keep him going the right way. I will keep you guys posted and thanks for all the help! Probably a dumb questions but I assume you work at SWF chewie? I haven't figured out everyone's screen names yet..
