  1. So now the questions is do I get the one with 4 65w PC or wait for the 4 54w T5 setup? both have 250w MH.
  2. The more and more I look I think I'm going to lean towards getting the odyssea light system. It sounds like it should work for me for a year or so and I'm sure I could sell it for a decent price at that time when I can afford a nicer setup. I've already lost quite a few pieces of coral in the tank due to poor lighting and not looking forward to having the same issue for a long period of time. It sounds like enough people on the forum have these light systems and even though it's a cheaper setup it sounds like they work fine. All these decisions......
  3. Still looking for a decent light setup. I talked to Patrick today but I got the no go from the wife for spending $800 on lights. I saw another setup on ebay that supposedly is being run by workhorse balasts with 250w MH? from what I understand from the guys at SWF they don't make a balast that will run MH properly. They were not positive but does anyone have any info about this?
  4. It opened up and looks good. Thanks for the little gift.. Hope that heater is getting the temp up for you.
  5. I emailed them a few days ago and they never got back to me. I sent a friendly reminder to them again today.
  6. So I just showed my wife the hanging option and she's not crazy about it suprise, suprise...lol So now she gets to see how much a unit will cost with feet on it.... this is going to be good. Any suggestions to keep it below $500 other than the odyssea lights? She may end up deciding it's ok to have them hang after she sees the prices.
  7. It was dead within a day or so. But it was the offer that was all that mattered. Thanks again!
  8. If your only going to need it for a few weeks I could let you borrow two heaters. That way you know at least one will work. I just need it back in two weeks for another water change. See you guys sometime tonight.
  9. I have a HOB unit that I could let you borrow for a bit. it's a 150w unit. It was heating my 50 gallon tank for a bit. PM me if your interested. I'm working on my tank most of the day.
  10. I'm interested Rick. Let me know what aprox cost is involved. I'm heading out to SWF and Seahorse in a bit to see what they have for lighting.
  11. I like this idea. Thanks for the input. now I just need to find the fixture to do it.
  12. So I have been holding out for a specific deal to go through and have been offered a 6 bulb T5 setup that I might end up getting but I wanted to see if anyone has a 48" MH setup that has feet to mount on the tank for sale. I have high ceilings and my wife would not be ok with the lights hanging from the ceiling so it does have to be mountable. Priced anywhere from $350 or less. There is a setup on craigslist that I have emailed on but have gotten no reply. I want to do something no later than Friday. I have already lost some of my sps corals and I'm pretty sure its because I'm running CF.
  13. I'd be interested in a voyager 3 for the right price.
  14. I stopped by SWF on my lunch today and picked up some epoxy. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to set it up but we will see... Going to be working on it tomorrow. I might still pickup some more rock tomorrow but I like the idea of having a little more sand base as well so my Dragon Goby has a little more sand to sift. I will post pics if it looks good.. If not I will ask for more suggestions. Thanks for all the tips.
  15. just email them and ask if they price match. They sent me a 5% off coupon and free shipping for a "one time only" deal. There was no way I was going to pass it up. I have a coupon now that I just got in my email for $15 off for $75 or more purchase too. Still wierd to think of buying it from them.
  16. So the fish in the tank should be gone tomorrow so if anyone is interested in the tank and pumps and stuff let me know. $150 obo for the tank accessories and pump.
  17. Share the love! I don't have any Rico yet!! Love to have one!
  18. So I found some more rock that I'm going to go pickup probably tomorrow. Any suggestions on how to get them to stay put? I haven't had many of them fall but it would be nice if I could at least attach a few of them together.
  19. Well so far so good. The fish seem to be much happier and the anenome as well. I think I'm going to get at least one more for the otherside of the tank but works great!
  20. I got mine from linens and things for 40 bucks with free shipping. seemed like a pretty good deal for it. Never would have thought of linens and things selling it but I guess that's what happens when businesses close down and someone buys there website.
  21. So I've been at this for a little bit and before I go too much overboard I wanted to see what everyone else thinks about adding more rock. My tank is a little taller than most 75 gallon tanks and I plan on adding more rock but I am a little unsure as to how much more I should add? Is there such a thing as too much? What should I do to keep the rocks in place? Do I use the same epoxy for coral frags? Any suggestions would be great! Here's the before pic and here is what it looks like this morning, I just fed the tank so that's why there is white specs in the picture.
  22. I say get a BTA. That way when it starts to out grow your tank you have an excuse to get a bigger one...lol I have a torch and they look great and just like everyone else said they don't move around. My Green BTA was moving like crazy. If your alright with it moving BTA's are pretty cool.
  23. Getting it finally today! I will let everyone know how it works out. I have practically no flow in the tank right now so anything is going to be a huge improvement.
