  1. I wanted to see if anyone was plaining/thinking about fraging their acan lobo or scoly and Blasto. I'm not in the market as of yet (money is building up) but I'm sure that some time will be needed for the coral to heal.

No need to be a LE coral but would entertain the idea(drooler).

Feel free to post, PM or email me what you may have.

    Thanks!:D

  2. Update: 3/30/2011

    It's up and running!

I went with dual corner drains (1 1/2") I made the over flows from scraps and one center return (1")

It is only using one drain at the moment, waiting on the sump design to be made/finished.

It has a 15 gallon tank as a sump right now.

The rock and corals are from my 29 gallon tank.

This is after buying 65 pounds of rock from redcloud, I still need to aqua-scape it. I also got a bristle star and a few corals.

For lighting I'm running a dual 250w pfo ballast with one 10k and one 14k to see what I like. I'm thinking 14k +.

I am plaining on having a refugium on the left and the main sump on the right and have the fuge drain into the return area of the main sump.

I'll also be running two smallish skimmers at first, to see if i can get a good cleaning cycle going where there is always one working and one breaking in.

More to come (soon I hope) (laugh)

  3. So how many people are going to start "trying" to breed some fish after the meeting with Matt?

I know I'm going to give it a shot! :)

    Group buy?

Seem like getting a handful of fish and letting them pair on their own is the best way that I've found (after some reading). So I was thinking if we (as a group large or small) pick a fish we all like or would like to try we could do a group buy and let them pair.

We could even do a grow out :0

Only concern is that the market couldn't keep up with the amount of new babies (when and if we are successful).

Let me know what you think.(scary)

  4. ummmmm.....

    so if you have a pfo ballast you know the back of it has two switches;

if they are both down lights are off,

one up and one down one light is on and one is off,

both up both lights are on.

I didn't see the switches and i had one up and one down. when I turned the switch up (on) the non working light came on.

I'll take my sign now :)

  5. I GOT A HALIDE SET UP A FEW MONTHS BACK (USED) AND JUST SET IT UP LAST NIGHT. IT'S A DUAL 250W ONE WAS WORKING ONE IS NOT. I'VE SWAPPED BULBS AND STILL NOTHING. ONE OF THE PLUGS IS MISSING THE GROUND BUT THAT IS THE ONE THAT IS WORKING. I DID UNPLUED THE MOGUAL SIDE OF THE BALLAST WHEN IT WAS ON. I SAW THE STICKER AFTER THAT SAID NOT TO DO THIS :(. COULD THAT HAVE BROKEN SOMETHING? ANY TESTS OR THINGS I COULD LOOK FOR? IT IS A PFO BALLAST.

    THANKS FOR THE HELP

  6. I would highly recommend it to you grassi, I'm sure you will enjoy the open source and the diy nature of it. For $200 or the extra $49 for you it is well worth it.

  7. My girlfriend and I just signed the papers on a house (getting the keys on Monday). First time home buyers :)(clap)

It's going to need some work, and money DOH! but I'm still going to be upgrading my tank size in the move. Will be going from a 29 to a 75(with a frag system in the garage when the 75 is stable)

I do have to say that I'm not sure how you guys own a home, car/s, etc, have a family/friends, work(flame) and keep/upgrade a saltwater aquarium but keep it up, you are an inspiration to us up and comers!
