  1. I would say to start with a mag 9 would be way to much pump for that size tank/setup.

A turn over of 3-5 times tank volume an hour is a good rule of thumb.

I have a setup close to yours, 29g main tank with 10g sump with 192watts of power compact lighting. I loose about 3/4-1 1/2 inch of water a day in my sump and it has no cambers.

I would at the least use the LR area for your return area too, and have a auto top off. Remove the first divider between LR and return. Leave the second one for a bubble trap.

Other then that it looks really good, I'm working on a 20L for a sump on my tank too. Like what you have done.

  2. Update:

I think it's been about two months and it hasn't given me one problem. I have to say again for the price I don't think you can beat it.

ALOT of people have been writing code and customizing this controller. Seems to get cooler every day.

Just got and email fron roberto (the maker) he said he should have the next shipment in by next week. I'll keep you posted.

  3. Looks good, but I think you are going to run in to problems with the sand and rock. Most "betta"/"goldfish" bowls are bare bottom with plastic deco. I think the rock/sand will over time build up waste, or more time will have to be spent cleaning.

The time spent cleaning the rock/sand may be worth the trade off in having a saltwater fish.

The other problem I see is making 2.5gal of saltwater every day, is it worth the time?

(for me yes, others maybe maybe not)

  4. try a dry towel in a circular motion.

    Lol.... I did try that!DOH!

snail eggs...if you haven't noticed them before, get ready to be inundated...

turbo snails will eat them, but you will have to scrape em because turbos can't keep up.

Yippee I am a snail farmer now!

  5. Franklin: I would like to be able to get access to the box and it would make it hard with the brace there.

Jon: A coast-to-coast minus the center is two overflow boxes! :0

Miles: I think I might go with that idea minus the $100 kit

    DIY overflow box cost:

    Acrylic $6

    Glue (Have it) $0

    Bulkheads (no more then) $18

    PVC $10

    Bits (Nick or Garrett) $0

    Hang a little over and

    get a frag rack $0

So what do you guys think about the flex tubing idea anyone tried it before?

  6. I was planing on running a overflow box in the middle and two returns, one at ether end. Well I decided to look at my tank for the first time in a while and noticed a large piece of glass in the center of my tank. So that's out of the picture.

Now I'm looking to run one return in the center and two overflow boxes one at ether end. Each box is going to have two 1" drains one will be a full siphon the other will be a emergency backup.

I was thinking of running flex tubing for drain and return. What do you think about that? I would have the bulkhead then a T fitting a valve then a barb fitting that I would clap the flex tubing to, that for two drains and the return. The other two (the backups) would not have a valve.

  7. I don't think BP has "wanted" to do much of anything except spin the truth. We are just trying to do something positive and keep the people moving forward. I would pack and ship ammo to send there if they would use it' date=' unfortunately my wife, my DR.and my mother are against it.[/quote']

You can send all your ammo to me:D

  8. I've heard that there great for the money. I was talking to miles/impur he said he still isn't sure if he likes his. I found them available at reeffiltarion.com LINK

    I think it's $275
