I fraged a couple heads of my candy cane with a pair of utilitie sissors (SP?) but I'm not sure if I had done it right the guy I traded it to lost it so I dont know if it survived.

If it wont piss off my false percs too much I would like to frag a head off of mine and could trade you a head. If you know how you are more then welcome to come over and give it go. If you dont know how we could have a learning experiance together, since I have never done it. that is if its not to far for you to drive.

My false percs love their torch and you dont get the same great rythmic movment from BTA you would think the current in my tank goes one way by looking at the torch but really its waving against the current.

I dont think your lighting is bad short of helides but maybe dif temp bulbs would be nice. When you do upgrade let me know what you want for your current light

Will my 26w CF sump light be enough to keep them alive untill attached? About how long does that take?

I got a bulb from lewisriver fisherman but I still need an endcap for T12 VHO I can trade an outside fountain, socket S1 dual core 64 bit Processor, or I have a 175w MH street light with ballast and mogul socket but no bulb that I have been waiting for $ to convert. I also have 2 old 70w MH/HPS ballests these are not pretty but they work. I will trade Fountain or processor for endcap or either the 175w or the 2x70w for endcap and more cleaners, softies, lawnmower blenney or ?

To answer your question " how often do VHO bulbs catch fire?" Well I'd say only once then they are toast.

hey that will help, it was my blue that burned this time,the last time it was my white I replaced it with a new one from kayes. I bet there was nothing wrong with the last ballest either to bad I already tossed it.

the end cap is black and chared I cleaned them (the bulbs) like I always do on sunday and they appeard fine and not loose at all.

About an hour and a half ago my 48" VHO actinic bulb caught fire! The odd thing is a couple couple months (six weeks?) ago my Super White VHO bulb did the same thing. Thank God I was home and next to the tank both times. Does this happen often? Both times it was the same bulb/ballist combo I cant remember bulb brand but I kept the box 110W VHO x2 on a Workhorse 7 ballast.

Also can my tank survive up to six weeks with only 1 Super White VHO until I can afford to buy a new bulb and end cap?

it is a "black limpet" from google search. It looks a lot like what you have.

I was on a site I will have to find it again but its a nudi ID site and there are some nudi's with shells some are very much like snail shells

I was almost convinced in the chiton theroy but could'nt find any besides the giant pacific chiton that had its mantel covering is shell and was black. On the otherside when I look up Dendrodoris nigra most of the other pics dont look right but the one in the above link looks identical.
